Great videos you're making. Lots of unreal tutorials already but rarely any teaching the basics to beginners how to complete a game.

Glad you like them!

Hey, just had the time to actually follow this tutorial xD, seems like you forgot to add the master volume at the end, you create a sound class for it but never added the slider neither the functionality, but it was easy to add so no worries, thanks!

@@nxtalex10 Haha I apologize for that. for sure you can do it!

Good start man, only thing though is don't use canvas panels at all they are heavy on performance use borders and overlays only. Also making separate widgets for things like textboxes and buttons will save you a lot of time when you want to change something with all of them. Try to break them up more modularly into parent and children widgets. Last thing use the HUD class to create and send data back and forth to your widgets from your player or environment with a BPI_HUD . Good luck let me know if you need any help

Hi, I'm sorry I didn't really understand what you mean. Could you help me? Like just expand a bit more?

@@neilluctelang2701 You can change the canvas panel to be an overlay. for the custom made HUD, lets say if you want to make a main menu with 10 buttons in it, you can make one single button class (WBP_Button) and reuse it multiple times instead of copy pasting 10 times. Why we do this? lets say you want to change the design or the color of the button, you have to do this 10 times if you were doing the old way, but with custom made button, you can just do it once. Hope it helps :)

Also a suggestion for the next video, a load and save game system that works like this: You have a menu with a New game button, where you can set like difficulty ecc.. Then once you save the game from the pause menu a new load slot appears with the details of the game like time played date and a custom name depending on the checkpoint. If you do not really understand, it is the same save and load system as the game The Last Of Us, I am not sure if it is too complex, but that would be such a nice thing to learn

Thanks a lot! Just wondering how i could make a button for "Apply settings", and if you do not hit it they do not update, and also a "Reset to defaults" button, thanks
@MelvinTangGamesАй бұрын
Thanks! you should have mentioned that earlier... but it is pretty simple tho. On Option Changed, don't call the save settings function. instead, make another button with the Apply Text in it, when you click on it, call the save settings function

For reset to default, you also have to create another button, then Event On Click, you could save the settings but with the default settings that you want to be (e.g overall graphics to Ultra, music / sfx to 1.0 and so on)
