After watching Part 1, I simply had to see how Part 2 evolved. Magnificent! Your initial washes, just as you explained, came through to produce the luminosity that you had hoped and more importantly, planned for. After watching both of your two videos as my first introduction to your channel, I am ever more convinced of the importance of painting a tonal study of any sketch, thereby laying the ground work toward creating the very same image in the glorious magic of watercolor. Another wonderfully talented artist, Niaz Hannon, stresses the importance of having your thumbnail sketches and making your adjustments, studying your light, knowing where your darkest contrasts will be and where your lightest light is. And then most importantly, having a plan. These are best practices that I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to learn through this venue from such superbly talented artists as yourself. Your generosity of spirit is truly amazing and quite helpful to this little old/young at heart lady who has taken a love to watercolor in her sunset years.👩🦳🖌️

J'ai visionné un grand nombre de vos vidéos : j'en arrive à une conclusion ; on parle de spontanéité dans l'aquarelle mais en fait c'est un processus mûrement réfléchi et élaboré. Bravo pour vos réalisations.

Watercolor has its mind you said is very true. I learned to lose my grip since I learned watercolor. You can really show me how. Thank you Gary!

Thanks very much Gary. It never fails to amaze me that after a first wash, which seems to confuse the pencil lines, that you manage to build up the layers effortlessly and produce Le Zattere by night. The atmosphere is perfect! I know the place well.

Apple does not own rotating screens. Just an FYI. I don't know of a phone or tablet that does not have an accelerometer to automatical rotate the acreen. I love your videos and you have taught me a lot.

And I am working on a 3' x 4' oil. I started with a charcoal study to get my values where I want them and then a water color to check my tones. Repetition is good. I want to know every feature in my painting before I start a long oil painting process. Repetition is good.

Beautiful light....such a great tutorial and love how the painting turned out. One question.... what colour do you normally use for the tonal study? Would Paynes Grey work? Thank you. Annika
@GaryTuckerArtist4 жыл бұрын
Annika Thanks for sharing - I usually use neutral tint (black) or sepia because of the range in value - Payne’s gray would also work ;)
