@@judysu8611 Sorry, I'm not on any of those platforms. So, am I correct in assuming you have polarizing attachments on standard tubes and are combining them that way? If so, do the tubes need to be roughly matched in power, or can you have a high / low configuration? Something like a 50W or 60W for fine engraving, and then add a 100W or maybe a 130W to give you high power for thick cutting?

The parallel design can avoid the high failure rate of laser tubes designed in series on the market. Your idea is very interesting and expands its use.

@@judysu8611 Judy, I guess I sound like them because I am like them. Not in lasers, but in other things. Two areas of use for your combiner come to mind immediately. The first is in the small ‘desktop’ units like the K40 machines. Being able to take a small machine and bump it up to the 60W to 80W range would be amazing. The mechanical and electronics side of those machines would have to be upgraded as well, but the idea of that much power in a small foot print bears looking into. The second is as I said, a high / low machine. Having the 60W for fine photo engraving, but being able to add a second tube to bring the total power up to the 200W+ range opens up a whole new world in machines. The only ‘downside’ is that most of the sub 100W machines on the market are configured for engraving. There are not a lot of changes to be made to convert them to a cutting machine, but all the work I’ve done on my 80W has also taught me many of the short comings in most of these machines. The upgrade to a dual tube would make it all very worthwhile. My personal interest is a bit more… unique. I have the idea to build a version of the BuildYourCNC Vertical Laser XL but in a sturdier aluminum frame. A bit different in the drive portions, and take the laser PSU off the gantry to reduce the mass. My research with various companies has informed me that the HV wire for the tube can be run in a silicone tube in a cable chain as long as the curve radius is not to tight. Your device gives me even more hope, as the Ruida 6445G controller I upgraded to is capable of controlling two tubes. Unfortunately in today’s economy my surplus cash flow is not there to dive in. It will be a little bit at a time. I have a lot of the acrylic mounts drawn up and waiting to be cut when the time comes, but there will be a fair amount of aluminum extrusion and fasteners to get before they are necessary.
