Grow Your IRA with Oil & Gas Royalties

I am looking at doing direct investment on a well. I want to put it in my daughter's name. The money from this I was going to use to fund a Roth IRA and a 529. Is this something that is do able with IRS rules? "Earned income" My daughter will be four (4) next month.
