Top stitching the second time gives the bowl cozy a nice finished look.

Could you stitch around the batting before trimming the fabric with a 1/4" seam allowance outside of the batting so then you wouldn't have the bulk in the seams? Or even 1/8" seam.

What size needle do you suggest? Do you lengthen your stitch when top stitching due to the thickness? Great tutorial , thank you. I have some cotton batting, not precut, and I’m going to give this a try.

I use cotton batting. It is recommended not to have any slubs from the cotton plants in it.
