It’s about going back and forth between the phases of acceptance/denial of breaking up with or more likely losing a partner. Hence, ghosts. “It doesn’t matter if the darkness is on my side, you still own me” - first hint of denial and sadness, an after the event “I’m still yours” “Your ice and my fire don’t make sense, and your soul and my love don’t align” - fire is associated with life, ice the opposite. Their soul is still here somewhere, but not in a lovable and tangible way. Acceptance “It doesn’t matter if I shine a light instead, i believe you. In-between my fingertips and on my neck, I can feel you.” - Again, light is associated with life. Denial “Your ice and my fire don’t make sense (...) but your ghost is my ghost all the time” - by ending the song on this note, the importance is stressed. A final picture is painted using the gloom of the keyboard to portray a vision of sadness and acceptance that they’re gone Or, at least that’s what I got from it lol
