It's finally here! After a grueling 10 month wait, my run on Distortion Paradise has finally come! This world is pretty much everything I expected it to be. Hard, arduous, stressful and at times, plain unfair.
Much like Battery Canyon, the missions are long and throw lots of nasty stuff at you. Unlike Battery Canyon, though, the red coins aren't actually that big a deal and it's largely in part of an oversight with the piranha bots where they can only chase you when you're swimming, so if you hold space above the water, you can completely bypass them. That doesn't mean there weren't any red coins that could cause trouble.
And then there was the challenge course, the longest and hardest in the game, despite leading up to a boss. If the dozens of Bill Cypher-eyed TV's don't get you, the jump onto the rock over the pit will. That stupid bit ended so many of my runs and it's near the boss. I hate it as much as the walljump in QZKago Requiem.
Last, but not least, the fight with Ixol. Unlike Compale and Ulipse, he teleports you to different arenas for his attacks, so you have to react to what he's doing and there's one attack in his true form that's downright evil. Lets just say that I'm not the best at handling reversed controls. Thankfully, the camera is always fixed and he's in plain sight so he's easy to hit. For the most part...
And like last time, if I failed far enough into the run (somewhere in the challenge course), I'd finish the world offscreen to practice beaten Ixol with no damage.
So yeah, this took me an egregiously long time to complete and, I'm sorry to say but, the next episode will take a while as well, largely because I wanna ship out the Big FE2 video sooner rather than later, but I promise it won't take nearly as long as this.
