Mad respect on the 80>>>>>>>79 Dyna fouby. A true built not bought!!!!
@4wdsupacentreAu4 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate! I tell ya what, buying it definitely would be quicker and easier.... but once I factored in what I actually wanted out of the ute, this really made sense! No need for a coil conversion or a rear track-width correction now... May not go as hard as the V8 but the 15B-FT came in 6T trucks so it should have plenty of torque! Cheers, Cahn

Hey Cahn, my Dad and i did a 12v to 24 volt swap on a G60 patrol in the mid 80's. We swapped the big G60 engine and gearbox with a Toyota stout 6cyl engine and gearbox - it was a long wheel base use with a home made canopy with 4 bucket seats and a pop up bed.

Hey Byron, If you’ve got two batteries they’d be in parallel already right - so you’ll need to connect your solar regulators to the positive of one battery and the negative of the other! Flick me an email to cturner@4wdsupacentre.com.au and I’ll send you a diagram if you need! Cheers, Cahn

Hey Robert, There is still 24V gear out there but you're right it's harder to find. I decided to convert mine to 12V for ease - but it was tempting to leave it 24V for the winching, starting and improved voltage drop benefits. I also had all the 12V parts I needed as well. Have a look around in places like Europe, Japan, North America and Russia and they still using 24V for some 4WDs! Cheers, Cahn

Good day buddy I'm not into 4wd but am Very much interested in all the Solar power stuff, because my family in Philippines have many brownouts and why I don't go to The solar guys for houses or small apartment is because it's all a scam just to get you to buy all their gear. I just need my family to have all the Power they need because we hate the power companies who tell us You Will Never survive without Mr Electricity. Gidday. Hoping you can advise. I am setting up 2 dual batteries in the back of my wagon (98amp 12v AGM deep cycle batteries). One is in a battery box with built in MPPT for solar. I have a 25amp DC-DC charger with built in MPPT solar regulator and a Kings 12v control box. I then have two 12v fixed mono-si solar panels to mount on the roof. One is 170w and the other is a cheap eBay 380w (supposedly). I also have a 200w solar blanket with built in MPPT. Can I connect all this solar and if so how? Cheers.

What would be best for swags in winter and summer?
@4wdsupacentreAu4 жыл бұрын
I'll add this to the list for Brenno's camping FAQ video! But, generally swags are pretty good for all seasons! the small air volume inside them once you're inside with a good sleeping bag means they stay pretty toasty, plus you can open them up for a breeze on hotter nights. Just make sure they've got decent mesh so you can keep insects out! Cheers, Cahn

Hi Cahn, its 2022 now and your videos have been instructive and motivated me to have a go!! So I bought most of the gear you speak about from Adventure Kings in NZ. However, I have one important question. I didn't buy the pre wired dual battery setup cables as I thought is was best to get the right length and run my own, BUT I am perplexed over the correct cable size??? The length of my run from starter battery to AGM battery (128Ah) is about 2.5 meters. I bought 10mm cable but I don't think this is big enough?? Also what would you recommend for connecting the 1500 Inverter via a 150A breaker, 16mm or 25mm? I am still waiting for my DC to DC charger to arrive from OZ then I can put it all together.
@4wdsupacentreAu2 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris, Is it 10mm2 wire? If so it should be ok for a wire run of 2.5m! As for the inverter I’d always suggest the biggest wire so the 25mm would be the go! It helps minimise voltage drop and helps the inverter run much better! Cheers, Cahn

@4wdsupacentreAu4 жыл бұрын
Yep we’re all 4WDers, we’ve all done plenty of 4WDing and we’ve done it for plenty of years! And we were all lucky enough to work for a magazine where being a 4WDer was a prerequisite (but being a journo wasn’t!) which meant we got to go wheeling week in week out for a paycheque. Not a bad gig! Brenno has experience driving and navvying Comp trucks (as well as all the usual 4WDing and lap around Australia) Mitch was a jackaroo on a farm and basically never unlocked his hubs for a couple years and I build and drive fun project 4WDs as often as I can. Plus I was lucky enough to get to go along with Toyota and test their new models at their proving grounds a couple times. We may not know absolutely everything about wheeling but I’d say we’d know a fair bit! Cheers, Cahn
