Review of the awesome Adventure Spec mesh jackets, with a serious enduro / off-road focus. High quality materials, abrasion resistance more then sufficient for on-road adventures, and the best airflow out there.
As always: your handsome model is 5'10", ~190lbs, 43" chest and is wearing a size large in the Atacama here.

Just grabbed one on sale for $164! Seems like the perfect jacket for hot AZ weather.

Thanks. Would have been nice to see what it looks like without the pressure suit and only the forcefield armor. Definitely a good addition to the plethora of options.

Basically the same, but without the small chest protector bulge.

Thanks for another good one. Do you plan to compare gear of the same type, such as mesh jackets? We need to get you a wireless mic. : )

Haha, oh no. Do you mean like a roundup style video? Probably not. I tend to cycle gear through and if I don’t like it it’s getting sold.

Been going crazy researching dual sport gear coming from big adv bikes. the layering method seems to be the best and I dont really trust the floating armor in the bigger klim jackets for off road. I think I boiled it down to either the mosko moto basilisk stuff or the adventure spec. You should order some mosko stuff and do some reviews! Also what armor suits do you recommend? I have been looking pretty hard at the alpinestars bionic action jacket. The AS gear seems to be cheaper if I didnt want waterproofing. I guess I could always buy some cheap goretex packable shells.

Hey there. I've ordered quite a few of the MM items, and kept none of them. I have a few problems with them for my very personal use: -Fit. I'm an athletic build. To fit my thighs/shoulders in the Basilisk gear, I have to go to a size that's huge at my waist/belly. I actually had the same issue with the AS pants actually, because of the lack of stretch along the thighs the seams where they did the inner vent are always pressing into my skin. -Climate. I live in VA, where the venting on basically all their gear is totally insufficient for the vast majority of the riding season (and I mainly do day rides). -Robustness. Something like the AS gear is far more robust, especially for pavement use. Regarding armor, if you want hardshell the A* stuff seems good. For soft-shell, I'd take a good look at the Bohn armored shirts, although if you live somewhere humid compression shirts freaking suck.

@@cblais19 Very informative my good sir! I live in South Carolina and plan to do Dual Sport rides in North Georgia / WNC / Kentucky. Hot and humid. I'm 5'10 muscular build 44.5 inch chest 32 inch inseam 36 waist with kind of big legs. I suppose I might try the Mongolia stuff out. RevZilla has a really good deal on the induction jacket (older model) but not sure about what kind of pants to get for my Alpinestars Toucans. What sort of setup would you recommend? I was thinking of the Dakar stuff but I don't think I trust it for 50/50 rides (pavement). I had a Baja suit but its too dang bulky! I don't need a million pockets. I like the layering aspect because I can take off the jacket for the slower speed off road stuff. I really appreciate your content and attention to detail! I hope your channel blows up!

@@dancingmaryjane motorcycle gear.com has even better deals on the older stuff! Another jacket I’m considering trying out is the Rev’it Tracer Air, which MG also has on close out. Dakar/Mojave pants are fine for the road. You’ll want separate armor though for your legs (I used to use the Forcefield pants, but switching to the revised Bohn summer pant now that they’re using very good and low profile SasTec).

Could you make a review for Alpinestars A10? I am very interested in his ventilation, rib protection, mobility and so on. Can it be worn under BAJA S4 in the summer? Thank you.

Sorry, I wound up selling it. I think it has the best possible ventilation you can get of a product like that, rib protection is quite substantial and wraps around the sides. The Baja absolutely can stretch to fit over top.

How did you go about selecting the proper size jacket? I guess what I mean is, was the bulk of your body armor factored into the equation, or did you just order the jacket to fit your size and just added the under armor afterwards? I’m not sure what kind of riding you do, or what type of off the bike activities you are likely to encounter, but do you ever envision a scenario where you might be wearing the jacket off the bike without the body armor? I guess a better question might be, how does the jacket fit without the body armor?
@cblais19

Due to the way the stretch is designed, unless you’re wearing incredibly bulky hard shell stuff the back and arms will easily expand to accommodate an armor suit while still being a decent fit using the integrated pads.

I'm interested in one of these jackets but I'm an old guy who still rides mostly pavement on long distance trips but enjoy riding my dual sport in the woods to. I've been using mesh jackets from Olympia for years and since I'm in the southeast USA it's very hot and humid and the jackets don't do much to cool you. I'd like a do it all jacket that I can carry a rain shell and heated jacket and was leaning toward the Marrakesh, what's your thoughts?
@cblais19
@cblais19 3 жыл бұрын
Hey there. If you’re in the SE, you’ll find the Marrakesh tops out in mid spring. I found its limits right around 80f, sometimes a bit less when it’s really humid. The Mongolia gives far more airflow, and despite the styling is actually more protective then the new “standard” induction.
