Great recap, but one tiny correction, and only because it's interesting. The book Shermy/Simon reads isn't written by Simon, because Shermy and Beth world isn't an alternate dimension, it's future Ooo. That book is written by the little girl who was obsessed with Fionna and Cake. At the end during the montage you see the book characters, Casper and Nova, as doodles in her book. She wrote their story based on Simon inspiring her with his own story. Simon is reading an allegory which is literally based on him and Betty.

Omg thank you for pointing that out because I interpreted that scene completely wrong! I thought the girl was taking notes as Simon told the story of what happened. Like, I thought he was straight up telling her “yeah and then I possessed this little dudes body and there was this weird book”. I don’t know how I thought that made sense.

it seems you got some details about GOLBetty wrong as it wasn't The Lich who opened that red portal, it was GOLBetty all of GOLBetty's actions in Fionna and Cake, is a result of Betty's wish to the crown to protect Simon at all cost, and that includes not turning him into the Ice King

12:41 ok this one I can try to explain and make sense of. basically every universe prismo creates is done so through a wish, except for fionna and cake's world. this means that, inherently, within the core of their world is an unfulfilled wish. and of course, it takes the form of a dandelion, which is said to grant wishes. so essentially simon handed fionna the unused wish that seems inherent to it being a world created by prismo, which she then used to wish for her world to be canonized. I don't know why simon just coughed it up, but it would be fair to assume golbetty had something to do with it. also, shermy and beth aren't from another dimension, they're from the same dimension as mainworld ooo, but they're just 1000 years in the future. simon assumes it's another reality because he doesn't recognize ooo. in the end of f&c we see him drawing casper and nova, implying that he was the one to write the book that he would eventually play while possessing shermy.

I wantched this as an almost complete newcomer to the Adventure Time franchise and I really enjoyed it! There are bits of lore I've picked up online over the years (Marcelene and Bubblegum, most the stuff with the Ice King) and the series did a great job of explaining what needed to be known. Were there some background easter eggs I missed, almost certainly, but I think you'd be doing yourself a disserivce by skipping it becasue you think you need to watch 13 years worth of content first

Tiny correction: Shermy and Beth aren't from a different dimension, they're from Simon's original dimension, canon Ooo, just 1000 years further into the future and it's hinted at that the one who wrote that little choose-your-own-adventure book wasn't Simon, but the little girl who kept bothering him about his Fionna and Cake stories The entire time Simon merely assumed that he was in a different dimension once again and that the book must've been written by another alternate self of his, because that's exactly the kind of thing he kept going through this whole time, but we know from the Adventure Time finale that Shermy and Beth are from Future Ooo and during the montage at the end of Fionna and Cake we see the little girl coming up with Casper and Nova, drawing them in her little notebook while she's listening to Simon's tales, hinting that she's the one who eventually creates that game/book It is.. a LOT of lore to keep track of with this franchise X'D

Kinda to sum up the worlds that we jump through while on the run, First was Farm World, the world that Finn wished up when he wanted a world without the Lich. We pick up after the events in the main show (Go watch it) with the Destiny Gang has reasserted their dominance after the Snow Man (Ice King Finn) disappeared, with the Destiny Gang leader Big D taking the credit for defeating the Snow Man (When in reality he was formerly the Snow Man's servant). The crew meet up with Farm Finn who's grown and started a family. While Farm Finn is reluctant to lead the crew to the crown's resting place, Jay, one of his kids, takes them to the crater where they find only its ashes as well as the Destiny Gang who captures them. It's then revealed that Big D's daughter, Little D, was in a secret relationship with Jay and that Jay had gifted the only remaining shard of the Ice Crown to Little D. Suddenly the Scarab appears and attacks, the crew defeat the Destiny Gang, snatch the Ice Crown shard, and use it to warp out of Farm World. The next world is Winter World, a world where the roles of the Ice King and Princess Bubblegum are reversed, now the caring Winter King and crazy Candy Queen. The crew are nearly captured by the Scarab before the Winter King intervenes and encases the Scarab in ice. Winter King kindly greets the crew and after hearing their story offers to help, the crew being wildly fascinated by Winter King, Fionna getting a crush on Winter King since he resembles the Ice Prince in her dreams, Simon hopeful since he found a sane Ice King, and Cake since Winter King charged her cellphone with magic. Winter King takes Simon to his laboratory to create a duplicate Ice Crown while Fionna and Cake explore the Winter Kingdom, before they can get too comfortable, the Candy Queen attacks and kidnaps both Simon and Winter King, planning on joining their souls together by literally dumping all three of them into a giant blender. Fionna and Cake quickly rush into the Candy Mountain and defeat the warped candy people before confronting the Candy Queen, defeating her, and rescuing Simon and Winter King. Winter King and Fionna both embrace, going in for a kiss, just before Fionna puts her hand on the Winter Crown, causing it to glitch and lose its magic, reverting Winter King into Simon before he ages into dust. As Fionna, Cake, and Simon stand there traumatized, the Candy Queen lurches up, transforming into Princess Bubblegum, relieved that the Ice King's curse was finally broken, it's revealed then that the only reason Winter King was sane was because he used magic to project his madness onto Princess Bubblegum. With no crown, and the Scarab now free from the Winter King's ice, the crew quickly nopes out of that situation. We make a quick pitstop in Baby World, a world where everyone is a baby, but no crown, so we're out fast, but not before a sneaky Baby Finn slips his way into Fionna's backpack. Next up is Vampire World, a world where Simon perished from the vampire scourge, leaving Marceline to be raised by the Vampire King, taking the name The Star. As they warp in, the dimension remote starts smoking, Simon quickly checks it over before revealing that they likely have only one more dimension jump before the remote's done. The crew are then attacked by vampires, they defend themselves as more begin appearing, but they are quickly dispatched by a peppermint tank, piloted by a soldier like Princess Bubblegum, A.I. Peppermint Butler, Huntress Wizard, and Martin Mertins (Who quickly falls in love with Baby Finn, taking on a father mentality). The crew finds out that the Ice Crown in Vampire World is under the control of the Vampire King who uses it to keep the world perpetually under thick clouds to prevent the sun from disintegrating the vampires, the crew then begins their journey to his castle to defeat him and take the crown. Along their way, they are ambushed by the Star, who quickly captures and kills Martin before teasing Bubblegum and flying off, but not before Simon calls out to Marceline with her real name, causing her to momentarily stutter. The crew regroups before continuing their journey, finally making it to the Vampire King's castle hive, the plan being to use garlic bombs to flush out the vampires while simultaneously stealing the Ice Crown from the Vampire King, ending the perpetual darkness, and annihilating the fleeing vampires. The team plants and detonates the garlic bombs, along the way finding out that Star Marceline has a passing interest for Bubblegum preventing her from killing Bubblegum for good. The vampires begin surging out from the hive, yet the storm clouds have not been dispersed, the team are then confronted by the still crowned Vampire King and Star, holding a dead Huntress Wizard in their arms. They begin to fight, Bubblegum facing Star Marceline and Fionna, Cake, and Simon facing the Vampire King. Bubblegum and Star Marceline get several opportunities to defeat one another, but never take them, causing the Vampire King to break off from his fight with the crew and demand that Marceline finishes the fight. While he is distracted, the crew debate stealing the crown or jumping to a new universe, Cake for taking the crown and Simon and Fionna for leaving. Cake throws caution to the wind and moves in to steal the crown from the distracted Vampire King, Fionna with the remote tries to hold Cake back, the struggle causing the remote to break and the Vampire King to notice them. Before he can bite Cake, the crew frantically activates the remote and warps them away from the Vampire King, meanwhile Bubblegum and Star Marceline's battle comes to an end as the two plummet off the side of the hive, Bubblegum planning on taking them both out together. Our last stop is Lich World, which is in the video. Fun fact about Lich World, we get to see its creation in the Adventure Time series, it's the reason Farm World came into being, the Lich made it to Prismo and wished for all life to be eradicated once and for all, so Lich World came into being.
