what you probably see is a v-22 off spray which is a VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) that has its propellers up for lift-off ( hint the vertical takeoff) and once at a certain altitude the propellers swing forward and fly like a ww2 bomber plane, I'm pretty sure they are still being developed and even though it's technically a propeller plane is still being used in war, correct me if I'm wrong
