This is the third time I've watched this video. Should you ever return to Shenandoah NP, consider a cabin rental for your base then hike from there. One cabin, Doyles River cabin, is within fairly easy hiking distance from Loft Mountain campground...access to a store, showers, the AT and of course incredible vistas. The cabin is located in a picturesque spot just above the Doyles River loop and waterfall. The interior of the cabin has a wood burning stove, bunk beds and is equipped with some culinary ware. There is a small prep table as well. The stone porch is covered and a nice fireplace just outside the doorway. Of course there is fire wood galore but you may consider bringing in packaged logs as we did. A water source, a spring, is on the trail to the cabin. I slept one night on the porch leaving the snorers inside; and one of us slept in a hammock rigged across the porch (no tarp necessary). I loved watching this video again as you are all enjoyable to watch and to listen to great narratives.

That sounds awesome! So you rent the cabin and then hike to it and stay at it for some amount of nights? If so that sounds like a real good time, may have to look into it!

Guys, thank you so much for making this! It really brings me great joy to see a group of friends enjoying the raw beauty of nature. You guys really inspire me to want to go do this too, although there are many hurdles along the way. People literally think you're weird for enjoying nature these days. They forget that we all are part of it, but many of us lost the connection to nature. Greetings from the Netherlands!

I don't like to think of it as "conquering", so much as "accomplishing". I find that there is often a balance between appreciation and managing the difficulties that the wilderness presents and that there are many individuals who experience both. I am a self-proclaimed peak-bagger (among having many other outdoor passions, peak-bagging is just my main association) and I feel a great sense of internal satisfaction when I climb a mountain and reach the top. Great film work and discussions guys. Keep up the good work!

You guys should consider starting a "hiking knowhow series," with episodes such as "fire starting," "campsite selection," "trip planning," "filming on the trail," etc. You already have a tone of footage that you could choose from to highlight do's and don'ts and maybe even for short bloopers segments at the end of each video. And you already do a great job w/ narration. This could work well as an exclusive to encourage more Patreons as you already w/ pre-releases of new videos.

Great video and brings back many fond memories. When I first move to the area, I decided to go back country camping hiking up there one weekend solo. Spur of the moment since I was up in DC/VA/MD by myself since the family was still in Florida waiting to come up later. Anyway went up to basically same area, hit the trail and made about 10 miles in. Ran into a solo bear on the trail shortly before dusk and ole Yogi went on his way. Still the thought of bear in on trail, me out solo with no one real knowing me out there, and nightfall approaching, fell heavy on the mind. Went another mile or so looking for flat area with very little good spots, so back tracked to area where I saw bear which was a nice little flat area and decided to put tent up there (ironically also a Sierra 3D) and did all the right thing from some nice hydrate pack in the MSR and stowing the food away in the tree. Went to sleep nice and comfy and later in the night, winds start picking up, rains come in and hard to sleep, but was under good cover, good tent and all was alright. About 3 am, got woken up when my tent (which I had the guy lines set out) moved big time. Wow WTH, got my little Mag Light trying to see what was going on and heard some grunt off in the distance near where my food was hanging. Whooa, now wide awake and got my little cook pot and started to make noise and what not and just morning grunts from about 75 feet away. Finally the little Maglite lit up some eyes and got my attention and my but back in tent wide awake. Was not able to get to sleep and had no issue, however as soon as the sun started coming up, broke camp and immediately back trek the 10 miles to the car. I never hike so fast in my life. So my planned weekend was two days and one night, all said though very fond memories and I have never hiked solo since without making sure many knew were I was going. This great video brings back some of those memories and thank you for such. Safe hiking

Even when things didn't go as planned, you still managed to have a great time. That hand out of nowhere. LOL Nice. And the first drone footage was nice, although there wasn't much to see but a huge canopy of trees. But that what you get when you're in Shenandoah. I lived in Shenandoah, IOWA for nearly seven years. It was named that supposedly because it reminded the early settlers of the original. I really like how you've grown your intro. Very nice special effects. VERY professional.

I had an internship at Shenandoah last summer and I miss being there pretty much every day, so thank you for taking me back home for an hour. I have also never explored this part of the park, but it is now on my list of things to see/do when I go back! These shots are amazing, everything is so green! And some of your conversations, or things that happened...like thinking of that one singer, or having a hand come out and help...just silly things like that remind me of my own adventures. I can't wait to get back out there.
