Just Wow!!!! Brilliant video, I don't know if there would be anywhere in the world you could see ancient craftsmanship on a scale like this! But now I'm going to have to plan a trip to Bira too! Thank you so much for sharing your stunning adventures Sam.

We have a national anthem with tittle "our ancestor is a sailorman". So the tradition of making enormous boat and sail across the ocean is simply has been our thing since the stone ages. And Pinisi is our pride, a beauty of traditional craftmanship adventuring above our magnificent underwater scenery.

The music is intimidating yet the footage so intriguing,,,, simply superb video. Thanks Sam for bringing us to this masterpiece. Other than trying to drag ourselves to the global sick world, Indonesia should look into itself, learn, relearn and unlearn the whole things, these kinda things are simply incredible stage to begin with

Hey Sam. . . Great doco. Love the time you spent showing the stages of constructing the amazing phinisi ships, great details and knowledge, beautifully presented. . . surely some of the most stunning, elegant & majestic sailing vessels ever !!! Makasi banyak. . .

I think they had done a good job in making the Phinisi ship even though they're having a hard time movin that ship into the sea apparently. The white tipped shark, stingray and other fishes underneath the ocean near Bira look great. Looking forward to see your next adventures aboard yhe Phinisi ship in the Banda sea.

Thank you so much for showing me one of the most presicous island of Indonesia where the quality of the wooden ships made by the local people. It has been famous and has made Indonesian people feel really proud of. Their work has inspired the song called Nenek moyangku orang pelaut ( our anscestors were the oceanice people), because these people are not only able to make hard strong wooden ships but also famous for ages as the brave people to cross the world to trade spices and concuer many other countries .

jauh bu hehehe kita mungkin hrs kearah utara jaman dulu kerajaan besar di tiongkok dan jepang yg sdh punya budaya melaut dan bikin kapal bikin kapal perlu kayu yg banyak apalagi kapal besar atau bahkan mungkin "pelaut nyasar" dr eropa yg emang kerjanya cari komoditas mau dibilang bajak laut juga bisa hehehe jaman dulu yg punya armada laut besar ya kalau nggak dr eropa ya dr tiongkok dan jepang bahkan pedagang budak di timur tengah dan benua afrika pun pasti memanfaatkan pemilik kapal besar tsb kan?
