I was there only once, on a family trip in 1964. The U.S. population has increased by approx 150 million since then. I could be wrong, since memory is fuzzy after 60 years, but it feels as if more human facilities exist along the road now, but it was super-crowded then just as it is now. Thanks for posting this gorgeous video. Fun to watch and a great way to bring back some fantastic memories. Makes me wish I were 30 years younger!🙂

Thanks for sharing, it would be really neat to see what the park looked like back then and how it’s changed over time!

@@AdventureEveryDay Thank you, too! I just thought of another thing that occurred to me as I watched your beautiful video: MUCH more snow was on the mountains, even in August 1964. I don't know how you feel about climate change, but seeing your autumn video with such a lesser amount of snow is a bit concerning to me. Back then, our family stayed at a motor lodge type of place on the south end of Lake McDonald. We took a boat ride, and I remember thinking someone had lost a toy row boat we could see on the bottom of the lake. Well, of course, it was not a toy! I remember doing a double take when the realization hit me! That water is probably just as crystal clear now as it was then. 🙂

@@gmaneis We were in the Colorado Rockies this past January and were surprised by the lack of snow in the mountains then. I think this last winter was a pretty dry one for much of the western states.

@@AdventureEveryDay Oh man, you've reminded me of another place I used to love: Rocky Mountain National Park. Our family camped there 3 times in the 1950's. We could pull into Glacier Basin Campground along Bear Lake Road on Sunday afternoon and have our reservation-free choice of dozens of sites. It was all tent camping then, no RV's. We didn't know about environmental concerns then, so I have a terrible-but-great-fun-back-then memory of scrambling all over the rocks of the tundra at Rock Cut on TRR. When I took my family there in the 1990's, and realized how my tennis shoes in 1957 had most likely mindlessly destroyed flowers that might have been a thousand years old, of course I was mortified.

@@gmaneisI’m 15 years old living in a very urban area on the east coast far away from these national parks so I’ve never really gotten to see nature like this before. However I’ve always been completely obsessed with the absolutely stunning beauty of the northwest mountains. My dream since I was 10 years old is to take a road trip by myself up along the Rocky Mountains and up to Alaska when I’m in my 20s to see parks like the Grand Teton, Yellowstone, and Glacier. If seeing these places in documentaries and on a screen looks marvelous, then it must be other worldly to see them in person up close. I feel like far too many people my age aren’t interested in nature and aren’t willing to go out and experience it. It must’ve been amazing to see Glacier in the 60s when it hadn’t been as touched by humans as it probably is now. Thanks for the stories!

Thank you for the video as it is beautiful and fantastic. My wife and I drove from Houston in our convertible to do this road in the summer of 2015. The day before we got there, a campers fire got out of control, catching part of the park on fire, so they closed part of the road. We started where you did and had to turn around at 17:53 in your video. Such a huge letdown but still happy we got to see what we saw. Hopefully one day we'll get back to finish the drive.

The contrast between the towering rocky mountains and the blue sky behind them is beautiful. Also, seeing Lake St. Mary and the river on the side of the road quenches my thirst, so I like this type of driving course the most. Thank you! Are the clusters of dead trees I see along the way the aftermath of a forest fire?

It certainly looks like those trees were damaged in a fire at some point, unfortunately.

None of your videos are available in 4K on my smart TV anymore 😞1440 is the best option (watching on LG smart TV purchased in 2021) it’s only available in 2160 on my iPhone
@AdventureEveryDay19 күн бұрын
Not sure why that is. We check our videos on an iPhone, 4K Apple TV, Samsung Smart TV and LG smart TV before we put them out to make sure they all work in 4K since we’ve run across the same thing before on some devices for some reason. This video plays in 4K on all the devices we’ve checked, sorry it’s not working on your TV.
