The countryside and crick there is breathtaking! Just like my homeland in SW Ohio. There's not much that can beat crick fishing and you got Trout and those big Chubs so that's awesome. We have lots of smallmouth bass and the action can be dynamite.

I caught my new Pb brown trout the other day , 21 inches , 3.1lb , great vid man ( you should try using braid man , I find 6-10 lb is the best for chub and trout , you’ll get so much more distance , i much prefer it to straight mono/flauro , the down side is tying leaders but it’s a fair traid off )
@adventurefishinguk3 жыл бұрын
Good effort mate that’s a big trout! I use braid for my pike fishing currently but not trout, I’m getting a 2000 reel soon so I think I’ll spool it with light braid and maybe 10lb fluro leader. Thanks for the suggestion I appreciate the advice!

It's hard to judge fish size on camera rather than in the flesh but your first chub appeared to be 2 to 2.5lb; second was 3 to 3.25lb and your beautiful Brownie was 2 to 2.25lb est. The chub you lost was bigger, I'd say 4lb+. I've caught good chub on lures in Bedfordshire on the R. Ouse ranging from 0.75lb to 6lb on a famous barbel and chub stretch where Matt Hayes and Mick Brown have fished. Big (and small) chub love lures when in the mood. They are greedy fish but easily spooked - the trick is to make sure they don't know you are there! By the way, size doesn't matter but the quality of fishing does but we all want that BIG fish ;-0) Tight lines and thanks for your vids.

Really enjoying your channel, recently started fishing and I'm lure fishing a river for Pike and perch etc. Should I be moving spots often? If so, after how many casts? Also, is it favourable to let the lure hit the bottom or do you start twitching and pulling back soon after landing?
@adventurefishinguk2 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! Move spots quite often unless you're getting bites. And that depends what lure you're using, for some jigs and softbaits bouncing along the bottom works well. For spinners and crankbaits etc then start reeling as soon as it lands!

MASSIVE chub and trout?? Nice fish mate, but all of them were very far from massive.
@adventurefishinguk2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching mate! I'd agree, at the time i hadn't been fishing for chub for long so to me that was very big. On the trout side of things, that fish is considerably bigger than anything i've ever had from that river. Its a rare catch of a stocked brown trout on a wild river with a small average size of fish! The duke of somewhere or another stocks them on his stretch downstream and occasionally one like that makes its way up. Whether you deem a fish to be massive or not is definitely down to personal experience, and for me at the time it definitely felt like it on ultralight gear! A couple of years back i'd have thought a 5lb pike was big!
