Adventures in generating HCL

Fastly customers love the Fastly Next-Gen WAF UI. As a result, many customers have built a substantial amount of their configurations using the UI. However, as more teams migrate to using tools such as Terraform there is a challenge to en-masse import the configurations defined in the UI in a way that is not tedious or error prone. This talk will focus on the journey to create a tool that generates HCL based on the existing Fastly Next-Gen WAF configurations available through the API, a live demo, and challenges encountered when creating the tool. Attendees will leave with insight into the journey building a tool that imports Terraform state and generates HCL.
