I just visit Saigon from March 20 to March 24. Same as your guys, and I had a wonderful journey there. But I feel the price there to Tourist is much higher than that to their locals, especailly those markets in District 1. You know what, 1 kg of Arabica coffee bean in those market will be easy to over VND3,000,000. That is crazy!

@@cloverdover712 there 4 prices in Vietnam exsample local price tshirt $5 then there the expat price $7 the there tourist price $10 then there the Russian price $20 lol the sercret is when buying watch what locals pay and just give the same never pull out a lot of money just enough to cover the local price.. if they try to up the price dont get angry just laugh and smile you get local price in the end or expat price .. the reason Vietnam has a low return rate for tourist is they get over charge everyday from taxi to drinks to shopping .. in Europe usa etc the prices are clearly marked everyone same price .. with the opening of many malls now in Vietnam the prices are the same for everyone which is a good and bad thing .. ie those little stores will be gone some day that wahat makes Vietnam special

We were there 1-4 March. I found that using Google Translate was my most useful tool. Take a picture of a Vietnamese word or phrase and the screen would display an English translation over the original text. Plus a good ice breaker when I spoke into my phone and it reapeated what I said in Vietnamese.

Loving that you chose Vietnam as your first country to travel in Asia...it's a beautiful country full of history (much of which was spent warring, so to see the country able to rise above it despite the disadvantages and obstacles handed to them, is amazing!) Unfortunately, a lot of history was destroyed when more American bombs were dropped on the land than all of WWII. Hue's Imperial City and a lot of the amazing ancient Cham architecture was blasted out of history. What a crime against humanity as that's like blowing up Angkor Wat, Mach Picchu, or the Egyptian pyramids...that's just something I find absolutely unforgivable. The Vietnamese are a very forgiving lot. More so than Americans can ever be if the position was reversed.

Thanks for choosing my country as your first destination in Asia. I’m sure you guys have been having a wonderful time there with culture and food. Your videos are very informative and help me understand more of the history behind each place and thing! I love watching how foreigners view my country from their perspective! And one thing I’m so proud that my country food is great, as you and many visitors comment. Looking forward to your upcoming videos

The Reunification Museum looked like the former US Embassy in Saigon. I will never forget those images of people trying to get to the roof of the embassy for a evac flight to freedom. Nor will I forget those images of the helicopters being pushed off the aircraft carriers to make room for evacuees. But the most enduring images were the body count figures shown on the national nightly news. With all that being said, it’s great to see Saigon peaceful & prosperous.

What a very different look at the city versus what we saw during the war period. The war museum sounds very interesting, throughout this video I noticed several war relics on display. This series of videos is going to be very interesting as some of us compare "then to now" with what we knew. Until next time... Travel safe.

I was stationed in Saigon in 1970-1971 when the tallest building was only 8 stories, so this was quite a shocker. I lived 2 blocks from the Presidential Palace with incoming rockets every night. Seeing the Palace and Notre Dame brought back lots of memories. There were a few things you could have shown, assuming they were still there, the former US Embassy just down the street and British Embassy next door. Also, Le Cercle Sportif, which is probably not in your budget zone. I could tell Ms. Perky was going to be sick after drinking Vietnamese "Tea," and sure enough she camped in the next day. Other than missing those things and the French restaurants, a decent job showing off the city, which frankly lacks in things to see.
@AdventuresofAplusK
@AdventuresofAplusK Жыл бұрын
Hey James, thank you for your service. There is always more we can show in every video we make. It doesn't appear that Le Cercle Sportif is open anymore, but we didn't know about it and it was interesting to read about so thanks for sharing that. But I'm glad we didn't have to blow our teeny tiny budget on it 😉😂. Also, we're not sure what made her sick, but we're pretty heavy coffee drinkers so I'm sure it wasn't the Vietnamese coffee...we've had plenty since and been just fine. We don't tend to visit many sit down restaurants, especially French ones, so we don't feel that we missed out on much there. Saigon is a wonderful city and we had a great time! Thanks for watching.
