An unusual walk under the trees, that traces what was once a trolley line in the late 1800’s. The easy terrain takes you passed information boards that show pictures of the landscape, back when people took trolleys up through the scenic Silver Hills area. You’ll see ruins of the old trail, stone bridge, and even where a family of beavers once lived!

My pleasure, Renee! I always love to hear that I’ve inspired an adventure! Keep watching: I have many more unique locations, where I’ve been filming this spring. Just a matter of getting them all edited. 🙂

Bring water, consider the longer, less steep trail back. 🙂

A friend of mine stumbled across the park and told me about it! It’s very easy to miss, if you’re focused on the road. As I researched the story, I found that a co-workers husband grew up in the area, and was part of the group that built the trail, bridges, and information boards along the path. It’s certainly a hidden history that most people, especially I, wouldn’t know about! 🙂

I was really surprised at how muddy and slick it was by the creek. Rest of the trail was dry as a bone. Those handrails were definitely there for a reason!

It’s a shame they haven’t added concrete or blacktop, to make it more accessible.

I didn’t either, and thought New Albany stopped at Scribner Drive, by the library! A good friend of mine is a wildlife photographer, and sent me pictures, encouraging a visit.

There used to be small resort parks all over this area. I toured an abandoned one at Galena (Jersey Park), there’s still a sign for one on Paoli Pike in the Knobs, everyone knows about Rose Island at Charlestown. Sycamore Island is still there, and they have a small pay-to-fish lake and a place to buy fishing and hunting supplies. I’d heard that a woman did a book about all of them, but I don’t remember the title.
