I'm 50 with no kids!! Was very clucky in my 30's!! In my 40's I got a budgie...and that cured my "cluckiness"!! In this day and age where the cost of living is making things hard for ppl I don't know how ppl can afford to have kids!! Yes!! Kids would have been nice!! Hyperovulation which can result in fraternal twins (non identical) is generally a genetic predisposition so a pattern in the female line. For example if your mother had fraternal twins and you are female, you have a chance (not guaranteed) of also having fraternal twins. If you are male and your mother had fraternal twins, your wife won’t have them (at least not fraternal twins) but your daughter, if you have one, may have a chance of fraternal twins. It skips males. You don’t have to be one of the fraternal twins yourself to inherit the predisposition, it just has to be in your direct line, your mother or grandmother etc.

I am an identical twin also. My parents didn't know they were expecting twins. My sister was born. It was a home birth, not knowing it was twins. The Dr gave my mum the injection to release the placenta. The midwife was caring for my twin. My dad and the Dr sat in the bedroom having a drink and a cigar to celebrate the new born baby..........................The midwife piped up and said ; Dr, the placenta has hair on it. Out came I . Instead of us going into the bassinet, we went together in the cot. Imagine the surprise to everyone!!! We lived in a small village of 1500 people. That year, there were 3 sets of twins born in the village!!! The other two were fraternal twins. The next day, the pram had to be changed amongst other things!!!!! What a surprise that was!!!!!!!!!

In 1975 I had a beautiful, safe home birth and bore my lovely, healthy daughter with no drugs. Renowned, courageous and skilled Dr. Ettinghausen was there at the birth along with a midwife (Ettinghausen bucked years of negative attempts to stop him delivering in the home, attacks that came from the medical establishment. He was a real doctor, and I had a very quiet, loving birth experience --- in actual fact, for thousands of years, home birth has been the usual way. I also want to say that I love each of you individually and as a family! Thank you for being so inspiring and for sharing your life with us --- I know it's not easy to do, but you make a difference in the world! So very precious! You always bring tears of joy to me! I had twin brothers. They were born 6 weeks early. My mom went to the hospital and they told her she wasn’t in labor. 5 minutes after that a little foot popped out! Babies come when they are ready. I had a hospital birth and 2 homebirths, and so wonderful experiences. Midwives say that if baby comes fast, all is well I was blessed to have my Mother with me and helping afterwards.... Mothers are the best! . Green blessings!

I have fraternal twin boys. We found out about 6 months in. They are 54 now. The second baby watches over his old brother (4 minutes older) all of his life. They have a special bond for sure.
