I expected to see a scavenging video but instead I got a beautiful short film with the most pretty and scenic shots ever filmed that happened to include dead stuff. But in all seriousness, this video is sooo pretty.

Where I used to live a lot of birds wound up dead on shore making collection easy but the looks I would get from people was so funny. I remember I had found a fully intact king fisher and I wanted it and a lady walking her dog went by and I heard her whisper,"what the hell?" I laughed about it in the car afterwards
@CorvinSometimes3 жыл бұрын
Omg I've had similar reactions too. One time I was photographing a dead sparrow that I found in a shopping centre but wasn't able to pick up and the lady who worked at the bakery there started full questioning me about it and was like "I don't think centre management is going to like that". She was so rude :') I'm glad you can see the humour in people's reactions though, that's the best way to go about it I think haha

(This comment is a little late) but hello!! I’ve been binge watching you’re oddities videos on and off for a while now and I thought I’d comment, but I find you’re videos so interesting! I started my collection last year, and I have 4 skulls, 3 sheep and 1 crow, and multiple limbs and things, including a spine. I live in the Uk so my local animals aren’t too interesting, I’d love to live somewhere like where you live, so many different creatures! And you’re extremely pretty!

Thank you for stopping by, I always find it a huge compliment if someone tells me they've binged on my videos, so I really appreciate that ahaha 💚Your collection sounds lovely, corvids and sheep are some of my favourite animals to collect 😍Honestly I always feel like all the other countries are the ones with interesting creatures, the grass is always greener I guess! Also I’m really interested in bones and things of the similar sort but I don’t want to alter another beings resting body in any way, is it possible to collect bones and things without having to apply anything to them and still be hygienic?
@CorvinSometimes5 жыл бұрын
Hmm, that's an interesting question! I think your best bet with that is with finding bones that have been cleaned by nature and are completely white (meaning there's no natural greases trapped in them anymore) and with no mummified flesh attached. By the time they're that clean, all the natural bacteria on them should be gone. Then all they need is a scrub with a tooth brush and water. It's also a good idea to soak them in water for 48 hours in case there's any insects (such as mites) or worms or anything in there that need to come out. Your other option is to find either bones or naturally mummified specimens and (providing that they're completely dry), stick them into a well-sealed jar. That's all I can think of with that, but I'll let you know if anything else useful comes to mind! haha

Rhaveyn of the Woods Thank you so much! Although I still want to look into it a little more still since death and the physical body aren’t things I want to take lightly (also it’s always good to know what you’re doing, especially since hygiene is extra important here), what you’ve said has made the concept possible for me and I’m very excited that I might be able to do it! Although logically, I know there’s no harm in the practice so long as the animals weren’t killed or anything for the hobby, but at least for me, it’s nice to have that extra reassurance there. Also I really love animals so much and in an odd way vulture culture feels like an extra little connection with the planet and animals, especially if I do it in the way you suggested. Thank you again!
@CorvinSometimes5 жыл бұрын
@@mj-me6zp Oh definitely, that's really good you're looking into it as much as you are - I don't think anyone should be 'interacting' with death if they're feeling unsure in any way (that's just my thoughts though) and you got to stick to what feels right for you with this stuff. I think the way you're currently exploring things in this area shows how much respect you have for nature and the deceased, which is one of the most important key aspects of involving yourself in vulture culture imo, so good on you :) Honestly, I feel exactly the same way - vulture culture just makes me feel so much more closer and connected with the earth and its inhabitants, and every animal in my collection has their own story and life history and there's just something so special about that.

My top spots for bones: The beach, I see so many things washed up, skulls, bones, full bodies, etc Any quiet spot, animals tend to want to die in peaceful areas, so there are more bones Abandoned buildings, if that's an option Allotments, it may sound weird but I've found allsorts there. Once I even found a pig skull Hope that helps 😊

I just got into vulture culture and watching people do it is oddly comforting but sadly I still live with my parents who think it’s weird so as much as I want to take home a rabbit and let it decompose and steal it’s bones it’s sadly not possible but I do have a jar of snake skin and a few cool feathers

@CorvinSometimes3 жыл бұрын
Hello 😄 Thank you, I'm really glad you're enjoying the content and pretty scenery 🌳🌞 I usually use fruit, oats and maple syrup for offerings (esp if it's for fairies) since it's generally the safest for animals & bugs to eat, but sometimes it depends on where I am & what animals are around the place too. 😊
