Y'all are amazing. Like I tell my husband in curving/mtn conditions..."Slow down, we are not in a hurry." We want to get there safety and not carsick. Nathan, you're doing a great job...3 hours and a little is just fine. The kids (especially JJ) seem to be growing so fast! I love that they are getting so many experiences so early in life! I'm a bit skittish around breathing fumes or close bear/animal encounters. Marissa, you did an amazing job driving! Love from SC, Stay safe! Jane in SC❤️🙏

You are all in my backyard, and I am almost embarrassed because I have never been up to Lassen like that. I have lived in its shadows for many years. Always in the back of my mind that it could blow and wipe out the whole area. I love that Hensley's idea of the right way to dress for a hike is a dress. The dresses don't slow her down either. Obviously if it is going to be muddy and wet wear a jeans dress!

If you are ever near southern Indiana you should visit Turkey Run State Park. They have some EPIC hikes that I think would be right up your alley. It is a really small park but totally worth the hikes that remind me of Fern Canyon!

Your family is so connected, your kids will love the memories. I went camping as a kid in diapers sleeping in the back of a station wagon and I did it for years as a teenager and as adult. I took my son camping as much as I could and i know he enjoyed it. I’m now living the rv dream and doing it full time for a year now. Keep up the great videos.

My wife and I were out in Redding, CA the first week of May, my daughter lives there and is attending school in Redding. I drove through some of Lassen during a snow storm on the 10th of May. Props to you for even attempting to drive into Fern Canyon that's a no joke ride for sure but yes the views are spectacular.

I lived in Redding for 24 years. Lassen Park is such a hidden gem - one of the least visited parks in the USA. Glad you got to see it. And a bear sighting too! Quite special. The entire area around that section of Northern California coast is also fantastic. Fern Canyon and the Redwoods are so unique.

I had to laugh: in the intro when Marissa says "I am much bigger than him", I thought she was doing it for the kids, then in the video I realize she is doing it for her own courage! 😂😂 The guy who parked in the road wins the rude-dude award. I will say it so you don't have to, "what a tool" 🙄 I remember deer hunting along the coast in the Los Padres NF. The beauty is almost indescribable, so much so in those canyons and river bottoms that I got lost for a long while (about two hours that seemed like six 😳😂). Thank goodness for a quality compass. One of my favorite memories now.

Do not own an RV but have been following you for over a year. What y'all are doing for you and the kids is amazing. Yes, I am from GA. hence the y'all comment. You should hear my southern draw in person. You have helped me and my bride ( yes after 34 yrs. of marriage I still call my wife my bride ) to want to see the country even more. We started last Oct. '21 doing the east coast. Playing nomads with just a small plan of our route but never booking any places to stay because we never new where we would end up at the end of the day. Started out from Cartersville, GA with plans to go pass through Ohio in 2 days. We ended up in Ohio for an entire week. Ever time we turned around there was more to see. Hence, as you say stay flexible with your plans. Thank you for all your content and be safe. Me and my bride are both retired now and and what you are doing is wonderful for you and the kids. Be safe and happy trails. We went thru 13 states, drove 4,005 miles in 1 month and 1 day. Best trip of our lives, thanks for the help. Our last run was thru the Shenandoah National Park from the north end. Not a route hauling a camper but the beauty is worth it if you can do it in a car. STUNNING !!!!!

We were lucky enough to stumble upon Gold Bluffs Beach Campground a couple years back. Such a cool spot, so rustic, I think we camped on the other side of the tree you were camped by. I wish I had know about the Fern Canyon hike though, missed that one, but all the more reason to go back.

We have been to Lessen National Park 51 years ago. We also have spent quite a lot of time in the NW of CA in the Redwoods. Beautiful places. Very different. Glad you got to Yosemite before the big fire at Wawona and Mariposa Grove this week. By the way, the Pacific Ocean in Northern California is quite chilly in temperature. Yes, Fern Canyon is beautiful. We briefly lived in Arcata years ago. One last thing, watch for Poison Oak (know the look of it - leaves of three and often tinged with reddish orange in Fall).

Just loved seeing you in both Lassen and Humboldt County. Am I remembering that you visited Humboldt before? The place is near and dear to me as I lived in Arcata and Eureka for 10 years. All that rain and mud are so typical 😂, yet the area, especially the coast is so empty and beautiful. I am a native Californian and I think Lassen is one of our treasures. So glad it is still off the beaten track. Just love the way you let your kids get wet and dirty while they soak it all in. Sending you much ❤️ as you continue in your journey. I have been watching for years now 🙏🏻 (I have driven 299 between Redding and Arcata many times in a car. Yes, it is awfully winding, but I have always found it so spectacular. One of my favorite roads!)

Now you’re in God’s Country! Have been going to Lassen since 1965 when I was 9. Worked as a Ranger there at the Southwest Entrance in 1980 and lived in the old Ski Chalet where the Visitor Center is now. Overnighted in the parking lot last year this week. Sadly they had a horrific fire after that burned much of the Park. It truly is a beautiful Park. Maybe some you can come back and see it when the highway is opened. Climbing Lassen Peak is a must-do and only a 5 mile roundtrip compared to Half Dome. You were lucky to get into Gold Bluff campground. I’ve been trying each time we are in the area. We spent most of last summer on The Coast (and this March). Safe travels!

The only time you can take an RV/trailer down a road like that to your campsite - and this is a pretty firm rule - it WILL BE RAINING! You may also experience at least one, if not more of the following: Rain, hail, high winds, sand storm, snow, sleet. This is only way the RV Gods will allow passage. Well done, Nathan!

I don't comment very often as I usually watch your family on the big screen TV and have no way to reach the comment section. But, tonight I'm watching you on the desktop computer upstairs. I'm really enjoying you taking this trip to so many of the places I've spent a great deal of time at, like Yosemite and Lake Tahoe. It is fun to see your reactions and you sharing your perspectives on places that are not at all new to me anymore. I've lived on the east side of the Sierra Nevada for 41 years now. I would love to see how driving down Tioga Pass at the east entrance to Yosemite would have been for you. Some people who are not used to mountain driving, find it a bit challenging. We took a road trip about a decade ago on the inland side of California. The interesting thing was, in this day and age, there were places north of San Francisco where we couldn't get waited on. The wait staff would ignore us. I wonder if it was because we're Japanese?
