Apparently he was the first trainee in years who succeeded at SM's open day audition. All at the age of of 12. SM knew they found a gem when he walked through the door that fateful Saturday.

@@daysjours Taem was the first SM artist to be given a solo debut. I'd say that by that stage, SM knew he was highly bankable, at the very least. The critical and commercial success that followed certainly bears this out. I still think they could have done a better job at promoting his recent solo releases though. You're right about his greatness. The most amazing thing is, Taem isn't even in his thirties, and has yet to peak. There is a vast reservoir of artistry in Mr Lee Taemin, that he is waiting to unleash. Can't wait to see what he has in store, after he is discharged from the army.
