To get at the transmission filler hole you take an extension bar with a ratchet socket on the end then undo the bolt that's in the back right looking at the engine. Same side as the battery. It's below the brake fluid container. Your way is also a great way if you don't those other tools.

Research (SMOD) Strawberry Milkshake Of Death on the Honda Ridgeline/Pilot forums of what to look for on the radiator before deciding whether you have a problem or not . Take a picture where the transmission line attaches to the radiator , then enlarge the pic to get a better view of the connection and inspect the flat washers for rust. The forums have great information and pics on this . Good luck

There is a transmission fill plug right past the air filter intake(look below the brake fluid reservoir) that makes filling it much easier than going through the dipstick tube.

Bypass the radiator with a transmission cooler
@detectionhobby11134 жыл бұрын
Can you even do that
@supermarioisacat3 жыл бұрын
That can cause excess wear and drivability problems with the transmission. Passing ATF through the radiator helps stabilize its temperature by not only cooling it, but also by quickly _warming_ it up to normal operating temperature.

This is rare for the tank to blow internally which caused the violent to mix. I changed my Radiator out this past summer due to its age and the transmission tube that's on the bottom. Also this J-35 does not sound right. It sounds like it's ticking. My Oddesy has the same engine and lures like a kitten.

My Questi0n is why are you using Green Coolant? it needs to be Blue :(
@supermarioisacat3 жыл бұрын
YES, that's right. Very good eyes. Green coolant contains silicates which are a big no-no in most Asian engines which usually require phosphated hybrid organic acid technology (P-HOAT) corrosion inhibitors (blue/pink). Silicates damage water pumps and can cause scaling inside Japanese engines.

you do not show how to take out coils 2 and 3, mine touch the central supports of the radiator and therefore the coils jam and do not come out of the motor

Honda 3.5 is a maintenance pig If the general public was more informed when they went to buy cars with these engines Ill bet most people would turn away They have a valve train that has to be adjusted this is 2019 not 1964 and if adjusting valve lash isn't bad enough this POS also still uses a timing belt too. NO THANK YOU. I used to boast about Honda NO MORE
@SpayNeut.Always5 жыл бұрын
personally i prefer a belt.. it is serviceable unlike a chain that can still stretch and then you have a real bill on your hands. every 60-80k no big deal
@stevenewsam19934 жыл бұрын
Depending on the engine, I much prefer a timing belt over a timing chain. A 3-5 ft long timing chain snaking from the crank all the way up to the overhead cams will exhibit stretch over time. Not to mention 4 plastic timing chain guides on a V6 that wear and don't forget, not 1 but 2 timing chain tensioners to hold tension. Many more parts to wear and possibly fail vs a timing belt design. I have replaced many timing chains on overhead cam engines because of stretch, leaky tensioners and worn and broken chain guides.
@dodgeking91944 жыл бұрын
@@stevenewsam1993 Yea I guess that's true I had to replace one on of the newer POS 4 door chargers it was a pain in the ass too and dodge came up with this brilliant design to conceal the water pump behind the timing chain cover and have the timing chain run the water pump too so that when the water pump goes you have to take the whole engine apart
@frank.l1814 жыл бұрын
Timing belt 105,000 or 8 years. Valve adjust at 30,000. If you plan to keep it, good for 300,000 miles. Timely oil and fluid changes critical.

You got it right when u call it a engine everytime but you are wrong calling it a motor. A motor draws power from an external power source whike a internal combustion engine creates its own power by burning fuel.
