All the points are spot on. But I'd like to also add another point which I feel is a very important one for teenagers and young adults. Is parents being a loving and supportive guide to their teenage children. Teenagers go through so much mentally and emotionally, especially in this era. Its important for parents to develop a friendly relationship with their children at this age and be a constant source of guidance and support. Gently steering them to the right way when they go wrong. Parents need to be there in their children's lives, even as teenagers. They need breathing space, privacy and independence. But they're still learning, and they will mess up. So parents must never become too lax and leave their children to their own devices; talk to them, keep them involved, let them feel a sense of belonging, have adult conversations with them. Guide them, advise them through a relationship of love and friendship

Im a mom of two teen daughters their father passed away while they where still young. I disagree that teens need privacy if you ment in the sense of media. They need monitoring more than tods and love and care more than a friendship as a 'friend' figure they need parents
@SKhan0m2 жыл бұрын
@@1.woerwoer I don't really agree with social media for kids or teens. If you listen to the lecture above the main message seemed to be around allowing the teenager some space to become independent, and for parents to not become an oppressive /overbearing presence in their teenagers lives. My point was, OK I agree / understand that they need alone time (privacy) and some space to develop independence. However parents mustn't become lax and completely let go of their teenage children. Guiding and mentoring them with wisdom is better than allowing them to do wrong (and to then learn from that). Minor mistakes are acceptable but parents need to guard their teens from major wrongs in the Deen, and in order to do that there needs to be a loving caring form of guidance, support and mentoring from parents

Some of the parents ,not well educated and smart enough to talk to teenager ,and teenager would not listen to them, they know as bout their parents how much education they have.

The issue is parents thinking being a parent makes them infallible from doing or being in the wrong. Infantilisation and teaching kids codependency rather being independent. Not learning and growing as a parent but thinking age equates maturity. The authority they have over their kids clouding their ego and giving them a power trip. Don't treat kids inferior and show them respect and dignity as much as you would to an adult. They're far more capable of responsibility than people make them out to be.

Having 3 young adults now, I can relate to many items that Sheikh Yasir elaborated on. However few of many qualities as parents we must have are patience, persistence, positivity and unconditional love regardless of your prevalent personal condition especially at the sliver of time you may have with your family. These qualities are super easy to say or type in but equally super difficult if not more so, to put to practise in all conditions you and your young adults may be in. As a parent, I failed many times to control myself plus any and all excuses are useless other than to submit to Allah that we are not perfect while continue to learn and cognizant of consequences of our words/actions.

Jazaka Allah Khair on a wonderful and informative khutbah, I agree fully with you Shaikh raising children is an art, I also agree totally with you not to raise the children the way our parents raise us. However, I want to make a correction the saying attributed to Ali RA. That Said don’t raise your children the way your parents raised you is incorrect, this saying was attributed to Socrates, and others attributed to Plato the Greek philosophers. But definitely not Ali ibn Abee Talib RA.

Islam doesn't leave anything its very clear in this subject, one needs to read suratul Kahf. The story of Mosa and Kadir, when Kadir fixed the leaning wall, and the verse says, the orphans father who died was a pious man. So Allah send Kadir to fixed the wall for them, because of their father's good deeds. So what we are missing is the connection of the parents to their religion, if we truly connect our soul to Allah and do what our religion wants us to do. Our situation would have been very different, even if we have problems with our children Allah would have given us steadfastness. So lets start to learn our Allah as a parents and examine everything on what Allah wants, our case will be easy insh Allah. Allah knows the best, we will always have problems with our teenagers but we have to start ourselves as parents to be obedient to Allah, only than we can tell our children about thier Allah.

My daughter is almost 12 but she is way more matured for her age. So it varies , I believe. If they are pre teen then they are probably more of a teen than younger child. The things kids are experiencing now at schools and among friends and media is so much different than what we experienced. Since 2020, and covid etc, things changed drastically. Esp now also that the gender things are popping up too. ( LBGTQ? ,gays,lesbians, girlfriends, boyfriendsEtc) May Allah grant us strength and protect our growing children, teens ameen

I'm just 20 minutes in but need to point something out. Sheikh said something along the lines of "you can't reprimand a 17 Yr old the way you would a 2 Yr old, yelling and screaming won't work". Well no one should be yelling and screaming at a 2 Yr old, or any aged child, or person. Yelling at a young child will only have a detrimental effect on that child. You should absolutely never yell at your young children. You can never teach a child what is right or wrong by yelling at them.

At 12:00 where they said teenagers are young adults well even like 13 to 15 yr Olds? Cuz they're Very childish especially young teens Literrally Age 13 , 14 ,15 is the same As 9 , 10, 11 well yeah and 12 is just like that just bcuz 13 has a Teen with it which is just a number . Year older and there's No difference just a age you should look and the person closer

Continues mentioning and repetitive emphasis about how Islam or Quran doesn't say much about "how to raise kids" gives negative thoughts and rebellious intent to kids who are already struggling between double standards of religion vs reality. The speaker can continue with this remarkable content without mentioning the above. Hope he will be more considerate next time. Jizakallah.

I agree somewhat with the shaikh ......but there's too much repitation in his speech. Be soft and be nice with the kids....but there has to be some set rules also; if you give them complete liberty, things might get sour. Teach them Deen e Islam from day one; it is the responsibility of the parents, not the weekend schools only. Islam has a complete code of ethics......that should be taught to kids all ages.....islam has explicit guide lines in the character of our beloved Nabi Akram Sallal laho Alehe Wasallam......He is our role model.... give the children His (S) life style, stories of Sahabaan e Karaam......add plenty of Doas to this ' therapy'; And it shall work inshallah!! especially in United States.., england and other Western countries... children need Islam more than ever...
