Hiii if I may ask since I'm in 1st year and apparently I can secure articles in 2nd year , can I do articles after varsity and then practice as an attorney ,after that then do pupillage? coz what I'm getting from this is that this gives you an advantage unlike me immediately after getting the LLB degree doing pupillage coz initially I want to be an advocate
@atleganggovuza6733 Жыл бұрын
Hello 👋🏽 exactly. You are spot on. You can do articles, become an attorney and then do pupilage as you would have managed to gain at least a network of people who may come in handy for getting briefs

@@atleganggovuza6733 i have feedback wrt to the question i asked yesterday after doing some little research. Yes they do offer articles to qualified persons of other Departments on a secondment basis. This can happen only if i have obtained approval from my Department whereafter i can approach the Office of the State Attorney to see if they can accomodate me for the duration of 2 years. This means i will be employed full time with the DoJ for 2 years. I am yet to get more info as i was given the contact details of the person.

I would love to gain more clarity on the Independent Association of Advocates, under which Advocates can get brief directly from clients. What are the advantages and disadvantages?
@atleganggovuza67333 жыл бұрын
I’m going to answer you shortly ✨
@jabuchanza30643 жыл бұрын
Hello Malebo, thank you for your question! As I am not in any way affiliated to the Independent Association of Advocates I cannot share any experiences in that regard. As mentioned in the clip I am registered with the JSA which prohibits advocates from briefing members of the public without the intervention of an attorney. This is largely due to being able to regulate its members for any misconduct and for members of the public to hold attorneys accountable as they are required to keep fidelity fund certificates.
