Adya addresses a question about the challenge or “dark night” that often happens as we begin to see through the falseness of ego. Excerpted from March 9, 2016, Broadcast, “The Search for Meaning”: bit.ly/4bMOn7Z

Quote from this Video: “When we start to have enough insight that we start to see the emptiness or the non-existence-the non-reality of these mental structures and emotional structures-it’s at once freeing, but often simultaneously, at the very least, you go through a phase where it’s quite disorienting because your conscious awareness no longer has the structures that it oriented its whole life around.” adyashanti.org

Takes real honesty to find Truth. Honesty with others but more importantly honesty with yourself. It’s a giant leap when you’re ready to concede that you’re deceiving yourself. Ego is convinced that it’s always right and we believe it - and there’s the mask.

Does anyone's ego think that these types of videos give the brain and ego just more insight and ammunition to hold on in much clever ways 😂

True, but that's part of the process I think. And when you bang your head against the wall enough (knowledge but no practice, so you don't actually change), then you may finally be motivated enough to actually do the practices. It's like slowly getting your ego towards being willing to start working towards its own destruction 😅 Until then it can be seen as a form of entertainment, although certainly a beneficial type of entertainment, as it already helps you become more conscious and plants the seeds of motivation that could eventually lead you to commit to the 'work'

This is simply it. So much spiritual guidance focuses on that constriction as something to be aversive to, but in duality that makes it grip even tighter. It takes a surrender to the idea that you don't even have to operate within that mind structure, you can release it for a time and play outside of its definitions. We become so identified with our protections, and rightly so, that's their function.

The question nondual teachers never address is this: who is making the choice between universal awareness and the separate self? The fact that there is a choice implies that there must be a third entity (decision maker) doesn't it?

Adya has addressed this a lot throughout his years of teaching. The great self inquiry is that process of really looking into and questioning the actual lived experiences and perceptions of thinker/thoughts and decision maker to find what is behind them. What IS it that is registering all of those experiences?? What is it that is there before any and all of those temporary experiences arise, then fall away… Look within 🥰

I feel the contraction of the ego not in the heart region anymore, but in two of my toes. Is that possible? I also feel it almost exclusively in the body and not as thoughts anymore. The resistance of the ego in my root chakra is sometimes felt as very bad pain that captures me - so I guess it has orientated itself around pain and suffering.. and doubting myself and corrupting my true self. the few times I really realised that, made me physically sick. sending ❤ to everyone who are on the path of loosening the structure of the ego. just keep going.

😊❤GVB 🎶🙏💕 It seems like the main educational experience most necessary for me has been not music, not spirituality. ...but the REPEATED OBLITERATION OF THE EGO. ❤ i just feel that to be of any positive use to G-d, it was necessary to bring the ego/me under submission for me to be "useful" to Higher Power.❤ For instance,if I had stubbornly exalted MY spiritual upbringing, I wouldn't have listened to Afyashamti andthe other teachers. ❤ We are All G-,dz children😊 tha ks.

What’s real and what’s not nót real is I féél is loosing its grip. I, and I’m not sayng this for everyone, have te become old, almost 82, having no energy left to fight. Is this the same as surrender?
@Always-There
@Always-There 2 ай бұрын
Yes, I would say that you’re experiencing the acceptance of allowing everything to be as it is and that’s certainly surrendering to Truth.

I'm not sure if it's a good idea or not but I like to spread this idea around. Here goes. I think Israel is the biblical name for Africa. I think the exodus was from Africa. I think the eating of the fruit of good and evil represents the evolution of language. Adam's nakedness represents our loss of body fur and the development of agriculture. Being kicked out of the garden represents our loss of instincts. The Jews evolved language and agriculture. Jew is just an old word for humans with language. The lost tribes of Israel (Africa) were groups like the Neanderthals. God's chosen people are the people who evolved as opposed to those who went extinct. Everyone is Jewish. We all have language, we are all God's chosen people. I think a biblical day is equal to one/seventh of all of creation. We are still living within the seventh day. Or maybe it is just the funny hats.

The biblical account does very much sound to me like the expulsion from the Garden of Eden coincided with the agricultural revolution.
