Puccini said after hearing Wagner's Parsifal; "He makes guitar players of the rest of us." After seeing Tarkovsky, he makes most directors look like kids with an Instamatic.

I suppose it's very difficult to choose short excerpts from movies of this director who makes very long shots. For instance, you very briefly show the candle scene from Nostalghia. It's an extraordinary cinema moment whose beauty comes largely from the length of the shot. But don't you miss the impressive scene of Nostalghia where the madman burns? Very beautiful video that should make those who don't know Tarkovsky want to go see his movies. 👍👏
@Adyfilk
@Adyfilk Жыл бұрын
Thanks!🙏 Yes..it is slightly difficult as well as fun, to edit the long scenes. I immensely enjoyed creating the tribute videos of Andrei Tarkovsky, Michelangelo Antonioni, Wong Kar Wai and even Jacques Tati. They are some great filmmakers who use long sequences to create a fantastic atmosphere and to tell the story. And yes..I could have used that scene with the 'fire' sequences together.👍

@selcano0575
@selcano0575 Жыл бұрын
@@ikmarchini Yes, it's a very pretty moment, but the birds don't fly out of the girl's belly (you wrote "her"), nor from a character but from a dress hanging on a hanger or something. But it's true that beautiful shots, there are many in the Tarkovsky's Movies .

My third congratulation. The music is a bit over dramatic, but who can deny the beauty of the images? Tarkovsky made only a handful of movies and all of them a masterpiece. Somebody somewhere pointed out that the first shot of his first movie, Ivan’s Childhood (he made The violin and the Steamroller as a student in his younger days, I don’t know anybody who has seen it) is a tree... and his last shot in his last one, The Sacrifice, also a tree! Is that coincidence or some kind of circular trip in this genius’ mind? Keep at the good work.

Because of the Cold War, I saw none of these films. From 1950 to 1990 there were cultural sanctions. Viewing Russians as like ourselves was forbidden. The whole thing was foolish. I have just seen "Ivan's Childhood" I will see more... With a few exceptions, American cinema is in a CGI slump.. Action fantasy and 2D characters. Maybe after the crash we will become real again..

Sad for both nations. Many actors were invited to hollywood, but Soviet sect did not allow them to play in American movies. Chech Grogory Chuhrai's "Ballad of a soldier", it has brilliant operator work and beauty and "Cranes are flying" by Kalatozov.
