He pressed the wrong button, he used the light punch super, when there he should have use the hard punch super, but i think he meant to do ex seismo looking for a counter hit setup with low forward.

I'm not sure if it is for all characters, but for most it does matter. For example with viper her lp super is very slow and doesn't go far but has a lot of invincibility, but her hp is fast and goes far but has less invincibility so it is more useful for combos. But I'm pretty sure Uryo messed up because if he wanted to super combo he would have did cr. mk xx thunder knuckle xx super. In that combo every super would combo.

a common viper execution error is cr mk into ex seismo and super comes out hopefully viper can get that ryu buff and it will stop or they can change the input so it matches her thunder knuckle how it should be IMO

Like Dan Jones said, it was probably Super Jump xx Ultra, in order to punish the wiffed overhead for the win. But if he had used hardpunch super, it would've killed too. cr.mk xx EX Seismo wouldn't be smart, cause punishing a wiffed overhead wouldn't be a counter-hit, and it wouldn't have linked. Only cr.mk xx Ultra or cr.mk xx hp.super would've won him the round.

man, I didnt know using light puch or hard punch instead makes a difference. I thought all supers have the same properties. this applies to all characters? because i main ryu and i just go with hard punch when super
