Do you know how to tell if it's an alligator or a crocodile just by looking at it? Depends if you see if later or in a while.

Crocodiles aren't native to Florida let alone the states. Only Alligators are. If you stumbled across a Croc, most likely it was imported into the country as an illegal pet and got away or was abandoned..

They put the tape on upside down so the sticky part is not actually touching the skin. Then they just cut or pull it off

It's not duct tape it's electrical tape. Comes off easy. Doesn't hurt the gator. I've seen videos of many gators being caught.

^ Yes. Electrical tape is pretty tough and hard to snap or tear but its not very sticky. Any residue it leaves behind comes off pretty easily

It's no different than horse blinkers or a hood on a hunting bird, the animal panics less if they can't see and it does no harm.
