I was blessed with an uncle with down syndrome who passed away a few yrs ago. And he was loved beyond words NOT for his disability but because of who he was as a person. Because of him i chose to work with kids that had down syndrome & yes it can be challenging BUT what kid isnt. And i can honestly say it is very rewarding. I get more from them than they get from me. Even when they are not being very cooperative. And if you want an honest answer believe me they will give it to you. I love & adore each & everyone of them even when they are not so fond of me.❤

My brother, Tim, doesn't have Down Syndrome, but he does have special needs; he lives in a 24-hour staff group home, & I'm his guardian-in-waiting (after our parents are gone). One thing that's unique about Tim is he was diagnosed as a child with ADHD and an autism spectrum disorder, but I was diagnosed as an adult (his autism is medium-functioning, & mine is high-functioning). Sometimes, I almost envy him, because no matter what, he will exceed expectations; I, conversely, look "normal," so people have "normal" expectations for me, that I can't fulfill.

The correct term is disability not special needs

***Christina, you have the prettiest eyes and I love the way you wear your eye makeup! It's so pretty. I am 55 and I can't mine to look like that. ***Rachel, I LOVE your hair color! I saw your video the other day where you said you wanted to be the President. I really enjoyed it...and yes, you SHOULD be the President! You'd make a great one. ***And John, you're just adorable! Your smile is so bright. And dude...you can dance better than me! You got moves! We all can learn what life's really about by watching these people and taking a page out of their books of life.

I watched all the seasons. Loved the show , and every one of the kids. They're inspirational. They can achieve so much,and can be so much more self sufficient then people give them credit for. Watching them grow as a person each season has been great. They all work, many living on their own, and Christina and Angel getting married. They do contribute to society, and teach the rest of us very valuable lessons about life. They each have their own strenghs. I hope they have another season. The show is very heartwarming.

The amount of heartless people in the comments is so sad. I can't believe the amount of hate people put out. Humans can be so cruel it's so upsetting.

No one wants to father or mother a chromosomal defective child. I assume you didn't birth a defective child so you don't know the reality faced by those who raise these people. There isn't anything wonderful about the hardships faced by the parents of these people and the huge cost to keep them "functioning." The issue is women waiting too long to have children that causes this syndrome. There needs to be a federal age limit for women to have children to reduce the amount of these defects.
@springer21125 жыл бұрын
@@8inchdonkey160 Or federally mandated abortions for women that are carrying mentally defective or severely physically defective babies!😎✌
@8inchdonkey1605 жыл бұрын
@@springer2112 absolutely! Just as the founder of Planned Parenthood wanted. I don't believe child bearing should be viewd as a god given right when there so many societal issues that arise from it. We have a large body of people of all races who can not function normally without substantial aid as most people do yet they're allowed to bring life into this world where we have to pay for it in more ways than fiscally. I believe in state mandated birth control for all until financial sufficiency is proven and chances of abuse have been shown to be minimal before anyone be allowed to procreate.

WOW, nothing like putting your whole family out 'there' for the whole world to see the 'curse' that you are all under'($$$) - hopefully, one or some of you know God's plan and His ways and what He requires of us and especially of those who have been 'called-out' of this oh so wicked, demonic, world - we are praying for your family, and for their deliverance...
@ginabell6945 жыл бұрын

I don't know what u we're getting about God's plan. But I have a disability. He made me. I wouldn't change that. Neither would my loved ones.
