Maybe that's why he always tried so hard to save people. Everyone in his childhood always snapped at him for causing misfortune, making him then also believe it himself. And when he saw someone suffering, he probably thinks he's the cause of it and tried to help them cuz of guilt. That's why he was so happy when he saved Index, considering he's the first one he actually saved and the last one before memory wipe. (Ayu was "dead" to him, and he didn't remember Misaki)

This is one of the biggest problems with the anime. People tend to call Touma a "gary stu" not only for his power, but also because none of his inner thoughs, monologues or feelings are shown, so it's not only they didn't understand the character, the anime cut a chunk of his personality, a big one. It made him look like a Kirito

The type of characters like Touma or Shirou need stuff like inner monologues, characterization, tics or subtleties that add depth to their characters, and in anime adaptations they are often removed from the source material without reason and so make them seem dull, basic and generic. A shame really.
@micahlindley7515 Жыл бұрын
I actually prefer the Anime to the LN. It ended at the WW3 arc, and I think that the series would have benefited from being built around ending at that point, rather than a new arc being created to infinity and beyond. That and I tend to get exhausted by reading books. It might be a me problem.
@elmago554811 ай бұрын
@@micahlindley7515 I don't think it would work to end the story after the 3rd world war, several plot points would be left unexplained. The main one is Aleister Crowley who was simply the one who moved 90% of the plot, ending the story without explaining who he was, and why he is doing this makes no sense. Without telling the plot of who or what Kamijou Touma is, they would end the story without explaining the Imagine Breaker, without explaining why Touma has monsters on his arm or why his name means the person superior to God, the one who purifies Gods and kills Devils. Honestly, if it ended without explaining important things like this, I would feel like I wasted my time watching a series that didn't go anywhere, a series started and ended the same way. One Piece follows this method of creating arcs infinitely, and for some reason it worked. Although I have the impression that the One Piece treasure will be something very mediocre, something that won't make up for the time lost watching 1000 ep. And the phrase: "the true treasure is the friends we meet along the way" will be real.

Touma's childhood is one of the main reasons why he is my fav character in the series if not my fav character of all time! Because as mess up as it sounds, I can honestly relate to his past a lot. As a child due to my health problems, I was treated awfully by kids and some teachers (not all of them) at my schools, forcing me into things I didn't want to do such as PE. In fact, the bullying got so bad that on the way home from school sometimes, I would wet/mess myself due to my body was drained, I tried to tell my family but they didn't fully understand all the time (I love them but I wish they could have seen through how awful some of the teachers truly were). I was not even safe at home as the next-door neighbors would make up fake stories of me being some brat or monster (lucky that time my family knew they were lying). Even the kid who lived next door I tried to make friends with and share my toys with was nasty to me...He ask me to pick up his pet rat so it would bite and attack me and then he kept asking me to go on top of the roof to play with him because he planned to push me off and kill me as he was secretly jealous of me. Thankfully my mum knew what he was planing, and stop me from going up. Much like Touma, my life has been a road of misfortune and hell but it has also made me want to help improve myself and others around me.

There's a lot of times that I come to the conclusion that Index Season 1 had so much to take in and yet they chose a way to make things simpler, in comparison to the Sisters Arc in Railgun S they sure made it seem a lot more inspired by the source material in reguards to major and minor details that the first season didn't catch up in the first place. While being a slow paced for story telling and focusing on a lot of battles I still like the first season a lot for Touma's character development, but then soon after the 2 seasons released the show started to feel like your average Super Sentai show where the main character beats the evil guy and moves on, while the 1st season had some inbetweens of Touma's past that wouldn't be as relevant to the future yet seemed really interesting to know and learn (even if the anime was half-baked the info that was in the LN).

You could also say that all of the suffering in academy city happens because of touma since the city was built for him in the first place. What's the best place to hide a guy that causes crazy shit and suffering to happen around him all the time? A place where crazy shit and suffering are constantly happening. Also, things around touma keep getting bigger in scale (church -> fiamma -> gremlin -> othinus -> true gremlin magic gods -> AIWASS and corozon, etc...), so he's getting more and more people involved in his problems as time goes. Granted that the above item, as was clearly pointed out, was omitted from the anime adaptation, and does serve well to give more substance to understanding what drives or moves Kamijou Touma to think, speak and act as he has been depicted to date, I personally find one flaw with the suggestion or implication that Touma would willingly sacrifice all to reach out and help another in trouble, as a response to the pain, isolation and brutality he experienced growing up. While that may indeed seem noble and admirable, spending your life in self-sacrificing mode with little or no concern or drive to advance yourself or your own life is ultimately no way to live. In my opinion, it would inevitably result in the rest of the world moving onward and upward, while you remain where you are. In fact, in the so-called real world, no living being stays as they are; you either progress (go forward), or worse, you actually regress (go backward). Perhaps in the so-called idealized fictional world crafted by Kamachi and company, that could work, but that's only viable if the intent is for Touma to remain in a dead-end existence for the duration of the story. And that would truly be misfortune on an unprecedented scale.
@AeonofHorus3 жыл бұрын
Spoiler NT9 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The Othinus arc shows it is ultimately no way to live. Because you end up neglecting yourself and living in depression at the thought you are not good enough to become this idealised version of what it means to be a hero. Touma learns to be selfish and prioritise his self interests as a result, even going so far as to sacrifice the happiness of 6 billion people for his own. So yeah, Touma probably would have remained in a dead end existence if he did not change. One thing I love about Index is that even Touma can be morally grey and his obsession about saving others is seen as more of a negative than a positive.

while I've not read the manga I have seen the anime. To me Touma was born as he was with the magin breaker. The world in nearly all instances desires balance. with all the espers in academy city and the magicals that pop up at times, something was needed to balance the powers. But like with all powers there is a price to be paid. Touma balances out the espers and magicals by being able to negate their abilities but that power comes at a price of seeming 'bad luck'. He doesn't want to use his past as an excuse to help people. If he did, he'd acknowledge that he had a misfortunate life to begin, therefore succumbing to that illusion, therefore insulting not just his parents' love but also the past Touma's actions and existence. Accelerator, because of his power, is deemed the "strongest," but is alone cause of it. To fend off the isolation, he has it in his head to become so strong that no one would dare challenge him again. To do so, he kills 1000s of clones, while subtly reaching out, showing cracks in his mindset. Wanting and yearning for equal footing, not realizing he was blinded by his own illusions. One shattered by the "weakest." In general, I think Touma's actions are a result of not wanting to just sit back and let be what be. He makes his fortune in this unfortunate world without losing sight of what makes him special. Not one to be pitied, or praised, but seen.

when you think about it there is noway that they are afraid of touma bc for him being bad luck maybe the children but the adults its too suspicous but there is a possiblity that 1 crowley manipulated the poeple around touma or 2 in touma's childhood he actually use IT and many saw that and they became afraid and thats why touma subconciously refuse to use the IT because of that trauma that he experience

Because they believed that, they would throw rocks at you just because they saw you. The adults didn’t even stop it. When they saw your wounds, Touma, they wouldn’t feel sorry-in fact, they ridiculed you. They would goad you on, asking why you hadn’t suffered even worse wounds.” the last line is difference from what in the video (i know its the same meaning but iam afraid that there is more difference ) what edition is right ??

That angel fall summoning spell is a pure incident. Well most likely because of two reasons. Touma's bad luck because of imagine breaker effect. And his father love for bringing him souvenir all over the world to counter his bad luck. Again it was an accident.. If summoning an angel is an easy task tons of mage already did it.. The right god sit even use index an a summoning ritual to re-summon the same angel. The is only possible because the angel is already summoned and the vessel was the Russian mage 'forget her name'. If not for touma's father re summoning the same angel is no easy task. Again that was the bad luck lol. His not even a mage and by using his souvenirs (charms) and somehow arranging it all around the house can cause different type of effects as a result of magic. And he successfully summon an actual angel that affect the entire world as a wide range effect and their home becoming a powerful large ritual site enough to summon a higher being to their world (dimensions)

It's videos like this that make me wish the Toaru light novels had audio books as an option of consumption. Mainly because reading things without pictures is such a chore for me. Sure, I can do it (I'm not illiterate), but it's much easier for me to read the dialogue of a comic or manga than to read a description of a character's physical appearance and trying to visualize what they look like from scratch. At least with comics/manga you know a character's appearance from the get-go since you can see said character for yourself.
