No it wasn't. Terminology (back loop) is correct, albeit unusual as he's launching off the lip towards shore instead of jumping away from shore. A barrel roll is more like a sideways cartwheel ie you jump the wave and instead of keeping your body rotating vertically in the towards-and-away from shore plane, you "barrel roll" sideways in the plane of the wave.
