See Ixtlahuacan de los Membrillos & Lake Chapala Mexico from the sky. In 1522, the Spanish Olid Expedition reached the eastern shores of what is today called Lake Chapala. When it arrived, its leader, Captain Avalos, met with little resistance. A royal grant from the king of Spain gave joint ownership of the area to Avalos, who was a cousin of Hernan Cortez. Franciscan fathers then proceded with conversion of the natives. Old Indian temples were destroyed and Catholic church foundations laid in their ruins.

Very true! First, it was filmed during the dry season (March-May), so doesn't show our beautiful normally-green hills all around us. Second, there are many lovely sights here that are ignored. Third, it's an old video, and reflects none of the many beautification projects that make our town truly lovely now. It's actually a very boring video, which doesn't do justice to Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos. Perhaps because it's sponsored by a real estate company? It certainly doesn't inspire anyone to visit here, much less buy property and live here.
