Love this version where Tifa is on the side stage supporting Aerith and Aerith looking for Tifa after finishing her song, i love how rebirth emphasizes Aerith and Tifa's friendship, becoming best friends. Aerith and Tifa's friendship was overshadowed because of shipping wars.. Both heroines deserved this friendship, supporting each other.

Seriously. I'm glad I kinda stay out of those circles in the fandom. Like, I prefer Tifa, but no grudges with anyone preferring Aerith here. Heck, I'll take Tifa with Aerith because Cloud can be... well, Cloud. ^^;

I think it’s so strange and funny, Aerith wrote a song essentially about her feelings for Cloud, and on a date with Aerith it’s very cute and one of the most impressive moments, but with Tifa it all looks so strange and even uncomfortable because of it. It seems to me that for a date with Tifa it would be better if Aerith didnt sing, but apparently they wanted to show the main song to all the players anyway, but then they had to do it in some other way

The song is really well written and it has to be there wether you go for Tifa, Aerith or none of them. It also appears on Cloud and Aerith's dream date as an instrumental. CloTi fans won't give a damn of course, but I guess one can assume Aerith's feelings are just unrequited in a gameplay that favors Tifa.

In last date , she says that church is " their place" . So no, she is singing about Cloud . Without any doubts . Till the day that we meet again is foreshadow to the finale , where they separated from each other .

I don't know how I feel about aerith's dates with cloud. She clearly knows tifa loves him and know's tifa is to shy to take action. I mean almost in every chapter aerith uses the word date at least once or twice. Everytime she said date I kept saying to myself : and again she goes behind tifa's back

My opinion differs from others below. I think Aerith even kinda has come up to compromise the idea of tifa and cloud is the the one for each other chapter by chapter. Thank you for your viedio

I’ve just read the interview that Loren and Uematsu did regarding the song. I’ll mention the key parts that settle who and what it’s about. Uematsu: “No Promises to Keep” “is a love song. I wanted it to exude a sweet feeling, but at the same time, evoke the complex feeling as Aerith confessed her feelings. I tried to build up the song as it climaxed, exactly as Loren described.” The lyrics make it clear it’s about one person, not multiple. Loren: “I wanted to get to know Aerith well, and I also wanted to depict her relationship with Cloud. So, for me to channel her fragile and pure personality, I needed to change certain elements of my natural vocals to match up with her character.” No mention of Z or CC. If the lyrics weren’t enough, even though they clearly detail how and where CA met, you have the singer and composer’s words too. When A sings it at the saucer, she even looks slightly to the right where C is always stood, after saying “until I met you” regardless of where the others are. There’s no way around it surely, it’s about CA. Only way if could be about ZA is if they make her character toxic by having her use her first meeting with C to make it about Z. Which would mean she’s treating C like he doesn’t exist, erasing a memory that is his, nobody else’s. It’s precisely this memory that snaps him out of Sephiroth’s mind control. And I seriously doubt they’d do that to her character when it’s harmful and illogical. She could easily of made the song about her meeting with Z in the church and whatever else, as this would be healthier and make far more sense than making it about a guy who simply reminded you of Z.

Nothing indicates that it is, which is the opposite for Cloud. The singer and composer have said in an interview that it’s a love song, and about CA. She even looks to the right where Cloud is always stood after saying “until I met you” regardless of where the others are, or if he’s alone or not. The lyrics explicitly detail where CA met, there’s no mention of ZA meeting or anything else. If it was about Zack she’d of sung about him and their meeting in the church etc, but she doesn’t. The date choice is dependent on your affection score, you can be alone, with Aerith, Tifa, Yuffie, Barret, so they can’t just have Aerith not sing her song as it’s a non-optional event.

@@ZivahyahBatYshral But how is she a B or a man stealer when Cloud isn’t in a relationship with Tifa, or anyone else? I think both Aerith and Tifa have feelings for Cloud, which is proven in the games, other media, and dev interviews. in the canon novel “OTWTAS” it’s stated that Cloud was Aerith’s beloved/koibito and that there were many things she wanted to tell him, but she didn’t know what to say, or how. This song is likely her chance to confess her feelings before it’s too late, like it was in the OG. But it’s clear she’s conflicted after playing all of Rebirth. Her heart and mind are at odds, as her heart is made up, (hence the song) but her mind isn’t. And I believe it’s because she’s aware of Tifa’s feelings, knows her fate/destiny, and wants to protect Cloud from pain.

@@whitewolf7454 Let me try to explain. If you choose Aerith as a date or romantic partner for Cloud, there is no issue. Her actions are questioned if you pair Cloud with anyone other than her. For example, *spoilers* Right after this scene on the sky wheel, the gold saucer date with Tifa ends with Cloud kissing her with high intimacy, and this does not happen with Aerith. Even in this video, at 4:00, Cloud initiates a handhold with Tifa. For me, these things indicate that Cloud has more of an intimate attachment to Tifa than Aerith. As far as I know, Remake Aerith knew this in the first game but still threw herself on Cloud i.e. bragging about "dates" in Tifa's face and clinging on to Cloud's arms. If Aerith is supposed to be Tifa's friend and is aware of her feelings for Cloud, then she should not butt into whatever they got going on, especially if she is aware of her own fate otherwise it's a girl code violation. Without spoiling too much, Aerith, throughout remake and rebirth, has a tendency to gaslight or force Cloud into an interaction that he does not want to do (crossdressing to infiltrate Corneo Mansion). In the first game, she goes from "Don't fall in love with me" to the second game "I want to write you a love song and go on dates with you." For me, it is too much, if she wants to protect Cloud from pain then she should stop playing with his already fragile emotions and leave him alone not live rent-free in his head, but like I said no issue if you ship them. I didn't read the novel I usually go off things that happen or are intended to happen in the game. *Spoilers* Considering the game's conclusion and Cloud's mindset throughout the games it's hard to say Aerith is his lover considering they hardly knew each other for the short time they have had interactions compared to Cloud's time and behavior towards Tifa. Also, don't know if you played the original game, according to the developers the Highwind scene with Cloud and Tifa on high intimacy was censored and originally was supposed to end with them being physically intimate instead of being implied. If you like Aerith with Cloud that's fine, and I don't which is also fine. Because of how I view things it affects the way that I view Aerith and this love song does not do her any favors with me if she is not the chosen date partner.
