Advent Children is a story how lonely and dark Cloud's life without Aerith😔..for me, there is REASON why this FF7 got remake, not telling us the same storyline like before. I'm just hoping there is hope for Aerith to live. I'm already done seeing the dark Cloud, now I want a happy Cloud with nobody dying, but I know that might be impossible since we don't know what will happen next chapter..❤

@@Addam_ fanfiction is the BEST way to describe Cloti...even Zerith when you take into consideration Aerith talks about moving on when she meets Cloud and Zack again in the lifestream...Cloti genuinely is NOTHING even without Clerith. There is so much relationship issues. Yet they tend to prefer Cloti over Clerith...the whole point of Clerith is love beyond death, it don't get more genuine than that hoe. You can't even say that Cloud loved both girls, he never loved Tifa. Cloud's crush on Tifa was that of a lonely, isolated boy wanting the attention of the most popular girl in town...she had something that he'd always craved, friends and admirers. That’s not love. Or even a crush. Not one based on personality and interaction at least. But who else can relate to this lonely childhood? Aerith. Can you imagine if they met as children?! Cloud wouldn't even leave the village or if he did, it would be to get stronger so he could come back and protect Aerith.

I think nothing has ever broken my brain more than the fact that I played all of OG FF7 twice without access to the internet and thought it was the most obvious shit ever that Cloud/Aerith was a tragic love story (without thinking there was even an alternative), just to finally discover the internet and realise that other people interpreted the whole love triangle completely differentely. I remember being so devastated about Aerith dying and Cloud's depression and thought everyone felt the same and then imagine to my surprise the sheer insanity and amount of Clotis...like ya'll couldn't ship Sefikura instead? That makes way more damn sense like ok classic enemies to lovers and we all know it's not canon. Srsly, that scene where Cloud reacts to Aerith's (canon) best dress in 7R still blows my damn mind. Like, Clerith gets ALL of that, and Tifa/CloTi literally gets NOTHING like it, no matter what dress Tifa has on? He literally doesn't react like that to her at all? And hell, the scene where you "pick" Tifa in the sewers does far more confirmation for Clerith than it does anything for CloTi! Not to mention, any romance in Tifa's resolution scene is ambiguous at best, unlike in Cloud's resolution scene with Aerith, where romantic love is pretty much outright stated?? (Aerith tells Cloud he can't fall in love with her, and he pretty clearly disregards that---"Do I get I say in all this?" & "I'm coming for you" are so obviously him pushing back against what she said.) Not to mention other scenes you skipped over, like Cloud flat out denying that Tifa is his girlfriend when Aerith asks after they rescue the kids in ch 8, and says "it's not like that" when Aerith follows up her previous girlfriend question with "but she's someone special?". Or the way Aerith held his hand and calmed down Cloud later during his Seph Clone freakout? Or how Cloud looked MAD when Elmyra demanded that he stay away from her daughter? Or the entire train graveyard sequence when Aerith gets taken, how he was screaming for her, or the way he was demanding to know where she was when Tseng had her, or how he pleaded with Barret to get Aerith (and Aerith ONLY) to safety in Shinra Tower, like....JFC. Listen, I don't care if ppl don't like or don't want to ship Clerith---that's obvs fine, you do you. But I genuinely cannot understand the ppl who say that Clerith isn't canon, or that it has nothing going for it in comparison to CloTi, bc like....fucking hello??? Did we even play the same game??? People thinking with their genitals instead of heart.. or brain. Because lets face it, Tifa is a thirst trap. Aerith is dressed like any plain Jane. Long dress, no thighs exposure, no boobas. Tifa is this hot smoking babe that if she drops something and bends to pick it up, you'll see all her treasures. Aerith could be wearing a potato sack as a dress, its not attractive at all. What Aerith is, however, is very full of personality, kindness, mischief, giggles and some hidden sadness. Tifa is a big girl that can take care of herself. Aerith depends on Cloud much more and acted more like the damsel in distress. Cloud feels like he has the strength needed to protect her, and he does. Tifa doesn't need that coddling and protection that Aerith does, and that makes him feel needed in her life. And i guess that's how it started in his heart.

Also, he only gave Tifa the flower bc she asked about it. I'll bet you that if she didn't say anything about it, then he wouldn't have given it to her of his own volition. It's part of a trend that I noticed in 7R---Cloud literally NEVER takes his own initiative when it comes to Tifa. Ever. 1) Barret is the one who tells Cloud to hurry and see Tifa at 7th Heaven after the first bombing mission; despite knowing Tifa longer than Barret has, it still didn't cross Cloud's mind to realize that Tifa would be worried sick and to hurry back on his own, and Barret had to be the one to remind him (maybe bc he actually hardly knows her at all in reality, but shhh XP) 2) as mentioned, Cloud only gives Tifa the flower after she asks about it; despite having functioning ears when Aerith told him that lovers gave them as a symbol of reunion, and despite his supposedly great and everlasting love for Tifa, Cloud didn't take this opportunity to make his own move on Tifa (not to mention that he doesn't tell Tifa what it means, and she has to look that up later on her own...if he meant it that way, wouldn't he have told her what it means? also, I find it curious that Marlene describes it later to Aerith as "OUR flower" (emphasis mine); obviously Marlene asked Tifa about the flower, and imo, whatever Tifa said in response couldn't have given the impression that it was a romantic gesture, as Marlene clearly views this flower as a communal one, for lack of a better word, and we know from the OG that Marlene isn't above being a bit of a match-maker) 3) Marle starts continually badgering Cloud about being a better friend to Tifa, and to be there for her and to get her to open up, and Cloud eventually does try, but doesn't push it when Tifa keeps deflecting; imo, it's questionable as to whether he would've tried w/o Marle's interference (notably, when Aerith tries to deflect, like in the "Language of Flowers" scene.....Cloud doesn't let her? Hmm...) 4) Tifa literally has to order Cloud to compliment her after she makes him a drink 💀 5) Cloud was just....totally going to walk away and let Tifa go off on her Corneo mission, alone and with no backup, until Aerith ordered him to do otherwise (and later, he refuses to let Aerith go into Don Corneo's mansion alone, and despite his pride, was willing to dance and crossdress in order to go in with her so he could protect her (Clotis try to say that the crossdressing was for Tifa---no, it was literally for AERITH'S sake; also, doesn't matter that Tifa could probably protect Aerith just as well with "all the ass that [she] can kick"---no, no, Cloud PERSONALLY has to protect Aerith and keep her safe 👀) 6) according to the Ultimania, iirc, the reason why Cloud hugged Tifa during her resolution scene is bc he was mimicking BARRET, who had hugged Tifa earlier; also, Tifa was the one who hugged him, instead of him comforting her with a hug when she started crying, and she had to WALK OVER to him to do it, and it took several awkward moments before he would hug her back 💀💀💀 7) Cloud wouldn't high five Tifa, no matter how upset his lack of participation made her; when Aerith gets sad about him not high fiving her back, however, he immediately resolves to do better and try to be READY for it the next time?? Literally, is there a greater embodiment of the difference between the way Cloud acts with Aerith vs Tifa and the amount of effort he's willing to put in for them, even in this seemingly small little scene? 👀👀👀 And this was all just what was off the top of my head (and having 7 examples seemed apropos XP), I'm sure there are plenty of other examples one could point to.

The creators are literally teasing it, “lovers used to give these when they were reunited.” Last time I checked, this line was NOT in the original. So basically, if Cloud gives Tifa the flower, it’s romantic and the creators are teasing them as being lovers who have reuinted. (Not saying it’s not, if that’s how you see it) But when Aerith gives Cloud the flower, it’s not? Considering it’s a remake, and Cloud and Aerith have finally been reuinted again too, why should it only apply to CXT and not CXA as well? “Cloud gave Tifa a flower” …and Aerith gave Cloud a flower.

iirc (memory is kinda vague) in Advent Children in the original Japanese there is a line when Cloud is being healed where Tifa says, "You never left him." (referring to Aerith) However in English they translated it to "You never left us." Which is sort of a massive change.

Not for the first time, people will WILLFULLY blind themselves to the real, genuine and authentic romance in favor of choosing the girl that can fight and might be more physically attractive. Every time a Cloti shipper explains their love for the ship, they focus on Tifa. It's literally just them liking her appearance and confidence in fighting so naturally, they'll pair her up with the M.C. The only reason this fandom doesn't hate Aerith despite fandoms typically trashing on the sweet, pure girl that isn't a fighter and likes boys is because they can pair her off with Zack and dismiss her and Cloud with "Zack 's memories and the Mako" even though that theory is a plot hole the minute it comes out of their mouth. You see this so often in anime too, it's annoying as hell. They don't believe in Cloti, they just like Tifa on a shallow, surface level that's technically insulting to her character too.

I think this was my first real connection to true love. There was other media where I rooted for people to be together, but none had the same impact as these two. They were meant to meet, to travel together and fall in love and you really feel that in the game. Aeris has such a meaningful presence in the party and in Cloud's life that when she's cruelly taken away it leaves a void that can't and won't be filled. I was devestated and mourned her death as much as i would a loved one. That's how well they designed her character, to fit perfectly with Cloud, where they complimented each other and we felt his pain when she was gone. That scene has stayed with me since the og and I've perpetually been on the lookout for any cameos they have, because no matter what world it is they'll always find each other.

Honestly, CloTi shippers just seem to like Tifa, not Cloud, they want her to get what she wants because they insert themselves in Cloud (or Tifa if they're girls, and they simp for both), and they are biased to ignore everything Aerith related because they can't deal with the reality. I don't see why CloTi wouldn't have been already confirmed openly like all of the canon pairing in the other instalments (even Lucretia and Vincent are confirmed canon) if they would have ended up together, Tifa is far more popular since AC, so why don't they openly scream and proclaim that CloTi it's canon? Because it isn't, it has never been and never will be. Clerith isn't canon just because it's the story of a love that could never be, but the feelings of affection between Cloud and Aerith are pretty canon, the only reason they're not together it's that she died, but in this new alternative timeline things might be different.

The real tragedy of Final Fantasy seven is this. Aerith and Cloud. Sure at 16 she dated Zack. But he vanished and was gone for five years. And then he died. It’s unreasonable to expect a 16 year old girl to not move on. So she meets cloud, and is initially attracted to him because some thing about him reminds her of Zack, sure. But the romance between them blooms regardless. And then she dies. And cloud never gets over it. Sure he ends up with Tifa in the original game, but people forget that at the very end of the game as she is helping him climb out of the crater, he sees her hand as Aerith’s at first… Cloud then says something like, “I need to go back to the forgotten city… I think I can meet her there…” and Tifa just gets this look on her face like she’s been shattered. This is not a happy story. It’s about losing love, and not being able to get over it. He is so not over it that Cloud and Tifa are clearly no longer together in Advent Children, Tifa’s first line in response to the phone, “he’s not here anymore…” It’s heartbreaking for Aerith as she loses her first BF. Then starts to lose Cloud to Sephiroth’s control. It’s heartbreaking for Cloud because he loses Aerith. It’s heartbreaking for Tifa because she loses Cloud.

In Advent Children, Tifa makes Cloud decide between the "memory of Aerith" or them as a family (Tifa,Marlene, Denzel, Cloud and Barret) and he still picks the "memory".

I played the OG in September 97’. Finished the game a dozen times before AC and CC came out. It was also the era without internet discussions. I always had the Aerith date and didn’t know you could date others. Recently I found out about the shipping wars. I love Tifa but I always thought she was a very good friend at the end of the OG - loved the lifestream scenes with her. Aerith and Cloud will always be my main couple. Recently I had some discussions with Tifa fans and my god they’re annoying: they refused to accept my view, while I respected theirs. Looking forward to part 3!

Also, at 9:00, it wasn’t just that Aeris put herself in danger for Cloud, but more so that she wanted to spend more time with him. They all said this Zack-Cloud is not really true Cloud but hey, he might carry some of Zack desire but his personality stay the same so anything he feel with Aerith is real, beside of that, everything happen between them maybe similar at start (still, It's like destiny when he felt in to the church the same way Zack did) but very different experience after that, thay have a journey of their own, not like Zack who left her all the time and just talk through mail. Tifa maybe hot but she's like the perfect girl next door who good to everyone and Cloud is just one of her fans, nothing special happen between them in the past. Tifa wants a hero to save her and Zack always wants to be a hero. Also as the first chapter in Rebirth proves, they bring out the best in each other than Cloud and Tifa. Tifa literally protects Zack from a Velociwing whereas Cloud has to protect Tifa from the same Enemy.

tengo una teoria y es que en el remake nos muestran a un Cloud hablandole a alguien y a otro cloud que solo llora y no dice nada... Por lo que hay un choque de universos o lineas temporales, el cloud original y el cloud del remake, pero en una la salva y en el otro no, si vemos hay dos esferas pero Aerith ya le habia dado su esfera a cloud y es la que tiene al final, mientras que la que murio en el original aun tenia esa esfere y callo en el agua... es complicado pero esto podria demostrar que Cloud si logro salvar a Aerith pero esta esta atrapada en una especie de linea de tiempo o en otro universo y otra prueba es la grieta que se ve en el cielo que solo cloud y Aerith pueden ver, esto se debe a que algo los une y yo digo que es esa esfera.

The developers has stated that this is a love triangle, where tifa and aerith like cloud anf it is up to the player to decide witch one is prefered by themself. So there is no canon in that. I think that yes- there was a romance that could have happened between them, but the relationship they ended up having was not "soulmates" or whatever. Aerith was nurturing and Cloud was opening up and trying to be supportive of her. that is not exclusively a romantic relationship. I think that's most apparent in the date in og and in remake, the night scene. she tells Cloud that they're not meant to be lovers in the night scene and in the date scene they don't do anything romantic like kiss or anything. I don't have anything against people that ship them but to say that there factually WAS a love story is stretching it by a lot. It's ambiguous in the og by design... but Cloud does get together with Tifa canonically under the Highwind. so Cloud's chosen Tifa as a mate rather than being "widowed" to Aerith. I don't know many love stories that end with "and then he got together with another girl instead" ... except for HIMYM, i guess but look at how people reacted to that ending....

However in Advent children we get to know that once Cloud got Geostigma he distanced himself from everyone again. You could argue that only platonic things happened under the highwind and that the living arrangement doesn't have to mean romantic relationship... but there's clear reason to infer. There are also interpretations of the high affection Highwind scene that don't agree it implied sex at all, just embarrassment from having personal feelings overheard. Debatable fan interpretation of an optional scene isn't remotely conclusive. No matter what the player chooses for dialogue in the original game or which version of any scene you get, the ending to the love triangle is always the same, where Cloud focuses on his desire to find Aerith in the Promised Land after getting his answer from the planet. He doesn't focus on Tifa after the hand reach. He's thinking about Aerith. "An answer from the Planet... the Promised Land... I think I can meet her... there." Tifa looks sad, bows her head, and agrees, actions that make sense for a woman realizing that Cloud, the man she's literally clinging to, loves someone else. In Advent Children, Cloud and Barret both live at Seventh Heaven and have their own rooms. Nobody is living with Tifa romantically or sharing a room with her. Barret is doing lots of traveling to find new energy sources, so he's not at home as much, but he is very much part of their family of friends. Meanwhile, Cloud's running bouquets to the Ancient City for Elmyra behind Tifa's back. He brings Denzel home with him because he believes Aerith brought the boy to him. The photo of Cloud, Denzel, Marlene, and Tifa on his desk shows him turning away from everyone else and looking miserable. Even before getting Geostigma and running off to live in Aerith's church, Cloud is still showing no signs of moving on romantically with Tifa despite it being two years. He's still trying to find a way to reconnect with Aerith in the Promised Land. By the end of AC he has reconnected with Aerith and found the Promised Land. She lives on inside him, and it's more than just figuratively according to Nomura. He is able to let his friends back in emotionally now. This is when Cloud is happy. He still has his own separate room at Seventh Heaven, and now it has tons of pics of the fields of flowers and places he goes alongside his picture of all his living family of friends together. Not to mention the fresh flowers he's brought back with him that symbolize Aerith directly. There's nothing confusing. Cloud said what he wanted in the first game, and we had years of homages to his love for Aerith in other Square games. Cloti fans have just been ignoring and twisting stuff for decades.

The reason why aerith pushes cloud away was as equivalent to a cancer patient telling her lover to find someone cause she' knew she gonna die. Aerith knew what was gonna happen to her. The final premise of ff7 was to be "a love that can never be" why? because the other is dead and that is aerith. the ending scene shows cloud reaching out to a hand whose wearing bangles = aerith. no matter what where how everything is revolving between these 2 one way or another

Crisis core was done AFTER the original ff7, it was meant to cement Cloud's backstory and ff7 franchise. The original premise of ff7 was original thought because Nojima wanted a tragic lovestory, the first characters he thought of first was Cloud and Aerith, then he thought Cloud needed a right hand man, thus barret and everyone else after. Aerith in the original ff7 admits she sees cloud as cloud as time goes by
