Check out the Merch Store: teespring.com/stores/growling-sidewinder-store MB339 Mod/download: www.freccetricolorivirtuali.net/ So the MB-339 is actually a pretty decent dogfighter, unless someone uses vertical against you at that point you're kind of out of options. So I guess be careful in a turn fight against this thing its actually pretty annoying and can be a real pain in the ass, on the other hand this aircraft is a great trainer if you're new to DCS and you're looking to train with something that's actually real well modeled, I highly recommend this mod, its free, its simple and its well made. Fun fact: the MB-339 actually flies as an aggressor in the Italian air force, often doing DACT against Typhoons, Harriers, F-35s (soon?) and Tornadoes. If you google hard enough, you can find pictures of them having Typhoon kill markings painted on the nose :)
@shapiro50004 жыл бұрын
If this flight model is accurate I can see why it's used for DACT and why it has impressive upset kills. Gotta say I'm surprised how well this thing turned. I didn't know much about it but considering thrust and max speed I thought there was no way this could compete with a 4th gen. If I were against it I would have lost hard from underestimating it and have to restart a few times before I was out of shock!
@TLTeo4 жыл бұрын
@@shapiro5000 The FM should be fairly close (with the usual DCS caveats of course), the FTV went a long way to model things like stall characteristics, departures and even high-G turns, because they are all important in their aerobatic program. They even had actual Frecce Tricolori pilots test it. I'm very excited for when it's released as full fidelity! But yeah, I read a few articles where they described some of these fights, and basically the MB-339 pulls one hard turn trying to shoot the Typhoon in the face post merge. If the Typhoon can avoid that and fight in the vertical, then it's a free kill, otherwise it's a pretty dangerous opponent.

@@SebaXeneize Italy is a part of NATO. By "aggressor," they are referring to pilots who act as an adversary in training missions. In the USAF, they have dedicated aggressor squadrons with F-16s and F-15s painted in Soviet camoflauge schemes. Other countries also have pilots trained as aggressors, with the sole purpose of training newer pilots how to engage in air combat and to teach tactics. If you've ever seen the movie Top Gun, Jester and Viper flying in A-4s were the aggressors for Maverick's class.

In Malvinas War, the morning of may 21, 1982, Leutenent Owen Crippa, a naval pilot fron the Argentinian Navy, knocked out the HMS Argonaut flying one of these aircraft (aermacchi mb339) using only his 30mm cannons and non guided rockets. Then, he escaped flying among the entire english fleet (more than 20 ships) that were in the Strait of San Carlos, without being shot down. Yes, it's a plane that was not designed for combat, but in the right hands is capable of any feat, as in your case. Amazing video, i always watch your channel. Soviet AF learned that F-5 appears as formidable adversary (against Mig-21Bis, MiG-23ML), but then found out that so is elderly MiG-17F if the pilot got lured in such knife-edge combat. Likewise, US pilots in "obtained" MiG-17s would whip a$$ of Navy pilots in each first encounter using excitement of them seeing true Soviet fighter and luring naval pilots in low-speed engagement.
