I have been flying for 8 yrs now,and i can never figure why people fly so far away with small panes. I have had to save a few planes for people. Flying to far away. Good build.

I'm close to 60. Got back into flying 5 yrs ago. Flew 20 years ago for 15- 20 years prior. I do primarily 3d. Even my bigger stuff (1.3m-2m) when it gets sketchy, in the sun, in gusty winds, GOTTA see which en's is up🤪! No gyros here. Too limiting!

I agree. Even if you normally fly big planes and fly big, it's easy to get in that habit and fly the small ones big. BUT, you have to have that discipline to fly responsibly and with common sense. Know your limits. With that however comes the realization that if you're not on the sticks,you can't be a real judge of what too far is for someone else..

All I can say, I think we all make good points to think about, on video planes seem farther and smaller too. I'm still learning.

I took an old beat up Aero Scout and turned it into a taxi trainer for my students. I painted her yellow, put big fish eyes up front, remove the broken wings. I call her Emu after the tv commercial bird.

And i thought mine was goofy, with an iNav flight controller and FPV, on floats. Nope. You win. Lol!

If you mounted the engine nacelles above the wing like a 'Coaler' the thrust would blow over the top of the wing, increase lift and improve STOL performance.
@toolbaggers4 ай бұрын
But the empennage would not be in the efflux zone so it could be worse STOL performance.

If the nacelles are angled down for a downward thrust line to compensate for in flight performance, then that could lead to the nose dive situation we witnessed during takeoff if the power is not smoothly applied.

I'm wondering if the CG was off. It seemed like it wanted to nose dive when it was taking off...!!! 😮

Nice mod. Saw the Horizon Team flying an Aeroscout with smaller EDFs mounted in the same position and it flew great. Think the EDFs were 30mm. They flew it at Jet Jam a few years back. Zoom zoom zoom Jeff in LA USA

Problem is ur edfs are making ur tail sensory hyperactive. I stuck the 64mm versions on my jets for extra oomph and had the thrust lines well under away from the elevator. Nice to see other folk love messing around with their toys too.

Since when is thrust vectoring seen as a problem? Your definition of "hyperactive tail" is supposed to be a positive feature of tractor prop planes, the baseline of a typical plane.

May I ask where you got the nacelles for the EDF's? I think I would like to do something like this to one of mine. Looks great.

Xfly swift 50mm units. Comes pre installed. As per the txt the gentleman has put in the video. About £20 each.

If you do a Google search for the motors I listed, 3 or 4 places come up where you can get them. I'm not sure which of these Ed used.

Awesome little piece of kit but if I could make a suggestion from watching your vid it appears that the jets stream made from the EDFs are effecting the flight control surfaces which may account for making it a handful to fly and also hard to loop and roll..... I did a similar thing years ago to a mid wing model and the key objective was to keep the flight surfaces out of the wind made by the EDFs....all in all its a great looking model so I hope this vid I made a few years ago may show what I mean.... kzbin.info/www/bejne/aWLSepusiJunfdU
