I spent 6-7 miserable hours waiting in the rain right in front of the stage. Absolutely dreadful. But once the show started, the rain really added something to the whole atmosphere. Seeing all the lights reflect off the rain and the windmills was amazing. Simultaneously one of the best and worst concerts I've ever been to. The worst thing was it had been a brilliant summer. There hadn't been a drop of rain for like a month. A few days before the concert it started raining more or less non stop for almost a week. After it stopped, we had another couple of weeks of nothing but sunshine. The timing couldn't have been worse for a huge concert in the middle of some random fields.

Was a freaking blast of a Jarre concert, I left the VIP area, and the shelterfrom the rain (way back), to get to the stage. It was truly fantastic among all the wet and happy Danish people. So glad to have been apart of it.

This is still the best concert I've been to of JMJ's, even to date. Even though we were ankle deep in mud and water, it was fantastic. "Light My Sky" is still my favourite, but all of the tracks are excellent in their own right. The walk to the coaches to get us back to Aalborg was interesting too, as it was a long and dark walk. When we arrived at the hotel we were covered in mud, but well worth it when we realised JMJ was in the same hotel as we were staying too.....bonus. Thanks Caz T for a great weekend ❤❤
@gregorybolton Жыл бұрын
I really dig the part about jmj staying at the same motel,my question,...did he strike up any conversation or hang ot somewhere where the fans could respectfully interact with him? If so what was he like?
@PaulWright Жыл бұрын
Hi Gregory. Neither JMJ, his entourage or ourselves were in any mood or state to strike up a lengthy conversation, as we were all tired, soaked, extremely muddy and in need of a shower and bed. Those of us fortunate enough to be in the lobby when he came into the hotel, responded to his arrival with a raptouous round of applause and cheering. There were about 10 of us mere mortals in the lobby, but he smiled and waved his appreciation, and spoke in French thanking us and wishing us a good night. We didn't get to see him the follwoing morning, which was our hope. I did get to speak to him at some length though at the Oxygene concert at The Royal Albert Hall in London on March 30th 2008, as can be seen by my profile photo. He was cheery, and engaged with about half a dozen fans who just happened to be at the back of the hall when he arrived. I shook his hand and he was very gracious in his willingness to engage with those that had gathered. It only lasted for a fleeting 5 minutes, but it goes down as one of th greatest moments in my life thus far.

What I find so sad is the amount of partial playback. Up until the 90s, Jarre was on stage with a drummer, a bass player (Guy Delacroix) and many other musicians such as Michael Geiss. The mix of electronic and classic pop/rock instruments had a special flair and authenticity. I still like this phase and concerts best. (e.g. 1986, 1990, 1995) Then came the phase where only Francis Rimbert and later Claude Samard played along. At least on the In>Doors/2010/2011 tour there were at least four people on stage and it was played live again. But Bass and drums have been missing since then. On the Electronica Tour it was just two musicians again next to Jarre and it felt less authentic again. The VR concerts are no longer my world. As innovative as it may be, in my opinion they no longer radiate the authenticity of a live concert, which is a shame.
@FLH3official2 жыл бұрын
Well, even in the 90s JMJ's concerts were, well, let's say "technolocicaly assisted", hugely. In these times the technology was mainly multitracks tapes, the computers weren't reliable enough. But I can understand this as you can't screw a huge one-shot concert with massive fireworks in La Défense, Houston or Lyon. The game was always to guess what's actualy played or not. 😁. Especialy when you're a musician who knows somethings about synths, sequencers and all that stuff.
@pcpanikMusik2 жыл бұрын
@@FLH3official Oh yes, I can understand that as well. On the other hand, just compare the TV broadcast with the DVD from China 2004. In the TV broadcast you can actually hear small (or larger) errors. The DVD has been completely revised and theoretically you can run the Aero DVD/CD alongside it without noticing a difference. Only the soloists, orchestra and choirs seem to be mixed in. What I mean is that the backing musicians are missing. Guy Delacruix's slap bass in particular fitted immensely well. And a drummer gives a live event a completely different touch. Claude Samard's drumming along on the Electronica tour can't be seen as a substitute for a drummer.
