Intake temps are too high and climbing due to poor cooling on the dyno. Very bad dyno setup, not good at all.

Imagine your tuner showing u all the damage from other cars, p explaining that apparently there’s no market yet when there is, and then when doing dyno runs with no vent lol.

Yea those temps were hard to watch. All tuners have been saying that this car , and the previous FA20, are very sensitive to temperature. Him getting a -3 feedback is directly related to doing runs at 120+ F.

A lot of fa20’s run low dam normally. There’s a column on Cobb’s site explaining it. I personally spent thousands of dollars trying to get the get the dam back up. It started about 6 months after my first tune (Cobb stage1) after 3 weeks of pricey treatments, I went stage1+. The dam dropped again immediately. I drove it with bigSF 93 ots tune for about 9 months; with a dam ranging between .430-.860 with no problem. Then one day after refilling gas, it went to 1 and hasn’t dropped since.

a protune doesn't keep your DAM at 1. . . . . i was protuned when my DAM started dropping to zero. tuner would send me new tune(pulling timing) and it only got worse. found out when i drove it back to them i had ringland failure and only70 compression cylinder 4. good luck

Yes, the car does it with the stock exhaust when pushing in the clutch at about 5,500. It's pretty loud with an axle back

This is the same exact issue the VA 2.0 had, the motor always pulls timing at the top end because of knock, its super annoying.

I had to pull A LOT of timing up top too. Small turbos end up creating a bunch of hot air and backpressure at higher rpm.

You west coast guys and lowering cars. I hate that it bleeds over here to East coast, its like tinting tail lights. "I lower my car, so I can't drive anywhere or work on it"

Most of these tuner reviews were done on a 22 VB, when it was introduced. As the owner of a late production 23, I can say that there were changes made from the initial model rollout. The brakes stop amazingly well, and my car, after an easy break in, makes 250whp. In addition, the hp and torque curves are flat nearly to redline.

Ya Cobb stage 0 & Cobb stage 1 doesn't call for a charge pipe. So I'm going to say that's why your knocking and DAM drop is bad. A good knowledgeable tuner of the fa24dit and Protune will fix that instantly.

Dang. Subispeed guys got 240’ish bone stock. Then added a bit of e85 and got around 270whp

Take off that blow off valve adapter, it will cause DAM drops

You guys need some better gas for that thing. I have noticed the quality of the gas in these cars makes a big difference. Also, I would aim a fan on the intercooler.

Your gas sucks. I might be moving back to So Cal. I'm nervous about the gas situation. What are you guys running. E30 on 91?🤮 I heard they have 100 octane you can mix to make 93?

Up here in VT our local tuner put down 318 whp on a ‘22 WRX with nothing but an intake, on 93 octane. Our fuel is good up here though, Cali fuel sucks from what I here. You guys have e85 everywhere though, we don’t…

@@aeroflowdynamics very impressive numbers. The tuner thinks they can get 350~ whp with downpipe/exhaust and intercooler upgrade added on with out 93 octane fuel. Quite impressive.

318 WHP sounds right. Here in Canada 🇨🇦 with a protune a stock intake 94 octane new charge pipe, intercooler, exhaust header, j pipe and Subaru STI exhaust my 2.0 FA got 271 WHP. So applying the ratio of 2.4/2 and multiplying you get 325 WHP.

My 21 sti put down 322whp on Cali 91 with intake, turbo inlet, gs top mount intercooler, and catback exhaust.

@@lucian7182 I’d need to see dyno sheets to believe that, I can grab a bunch of dyno sheets on the last Gen STi’s with all sorts of mods up here in VT, they aren’t making those power levels with those level mods… I just checked there IG videos, 300-313 whp is normal with catted/catless turbo back exhaust, injectors, intake, intercooler, 93 octane, 320-325 whp with some EL headers. I don’t believe your STi is touching 322 on stock downpipe/j pipe…

Okay solid question, I have 0 ethanol premium gas from 91-97 and a short drive away have 115 octane, but it's all rec gas so 0 ethanol, is that bad or can you tune without ethanol?

zero ethanol in gasoline is nice because you get the full "power" of gasoline. ethanol has a lower energy value per volume than gasoline and is in pump gas for emissions. octane is just a rating for the fuel's resistance to detonate. higher octane is best for these cars (I use 93 here in OH). 115 octane is race gas (and probably expensive) and make sure it is unleaded. ppl use e60-e85 because the ethanol has a higher octane rating (in the 100s) which allows ppl to turn up the boost thus make more power (in a nutshell). but again ethanol gas (e60-e85) has less energy per volume so you will use more and get worse fuel economy on top of the worse economy from make more/huge hp. this is a simplified explanation; there's a lot more to it.

I live in the Los Angeles area and just finished E tuning with Drunkkman on 91 octane. It blows the Cobb OTS out of the water in regards to power and maintaining DAM at 1 and low knock. He can do only so much on CA 91 octane winter blend gas though. Our pump gas is the worst so dont expect to be blown away, go for E30. The COBB OTS is very sensitive and your exhaust mods and modified factory intake probably had some influence on the DAM dropping so fast.

Hey man I'm having the same issue with mine, it was running at 1 DAM for about 15 miles and dropped to .750 and even to .250 in some instances. I'm bone stock but have 93 octane here in VA and decided to drop it to the 91 map to see if that made a difference and it didn't. My question is will the drunkman tune be safe or will it just lower the feedback knock sensitivity to trick the car? Or should I just get a protune? Thanks in advanced and keep up the videos!!

drunkman is a protune, did my car and it has been running without issues. since youre in VA check out felixperformance. That is where my car was tuned by him.

Take the oil pan off to clean off RTV debris. Could save the engine in the future.
