On placing the deck on the hull there is a slight overhang did you leave it or have sand it flat to meet the hull? I think I like the overhang, but time will tell.

Hi Martin. Thanks for the comment. I left the overhang. I assumed it was meant to be there and didn't really question it. It looks good with it.

@@tetrapanax1 I agree, I’m just trying to work out how to get the overhang even! Great video and great build, hope mine turns out as well although the laser cutting of some of the mahogany has been dire the steering wheel panel in particular, plus my instructions are in German with no English translation!

I’m just building this boat for my son and at that critical when I need to decide on the motor. Having now completed your install, would you recommend this motor over the 400? Many thanks
@tetrapanax13 жыл бұрын
Hi. I don't have any experience of a 400 size brushed motor in this (assuming that's what you mean). It will likely give you more scale speed and will be cheaper than a brushless setup. I like that my setup has plenty of speed when needed but is also happy to cruise. There are so many options out there. It's a bit of a minefield. I expect the kit prop shaft would not last long with a brushless motor and you don't want to have to upgrade after all the hard work on the hull. So if you are not too fussed about high speed and want to keep the standard shaft then brushed will be fine. You can also upgrade brushed motors too for more top end etc later if required. Hope that helps and good luck. Great to share the hobby with your son. My boys are pretty good with my RC's as long I give them space!

Hello mate, beautiful boat! Was wondering where you got the motor/cupola/prop shaft from? Specs of all of those? What length of prop shaft and cupola would you go for if you were to do it again? What size is the flag? Thanks!
@tetrapanax13 жыл бұрын
Hi. I got the prop, prop shaft and coupler from Cornwall Model Boats (UK). Fine Line 7in propshaft M4, 3 blade hydro propeller 30mm right hand M4, universal joint, plain coupling insert (motor end) and threaded M4 coupling insert (prop shaft end). The motor was from eBay 2200kv outrunner. I reckon the shaft could be at least an inch shorter to bring the motor back to the next cross member. Good luck with the build. Let me know if you need any more specifics. Many ways to do it. Mine was a first attempt.

Oh and the ensign/flag is 50mm

@@tetrapanax1 Mate thanks so much! Will go through Cornwall model boats as well - is the 2200kv too fast for the boat is it ok? Is the standard rudder up to the job?
@tetrapanax13 жыл бұрын
@@alexanderhetherington6018 2200 is fast and not scale but you don't have to give it full beans! Makes it fun though. Rudder is fine.
@alexanderhetherington60183 жыл бұрын
@@tetrapanax1 Excellent, love some beanage!

You can keep on using woodglue, just use the D3 variant (i.e. waterproof) of your preferred brand. Standard woodglue is of course not meant to build boats😅
