I seem to be traveling down the same R/C path as you. And your videos really help me out! You've helped me with my Taranis, with my Vector, and now that i have a FX-61 on the way, i discover that you've already done that too! This folding prop testing and ordering video is exactly what i needed, again. Thank you so much!

+cbluebeard You are welcome, however I have never built the FX-61. It is still in the box. Now working on a Chimera instead. Check out Eduardo Fritis for the FX-61 build. He uses the Vector and this same folding prop/motor combo.

very helpful thanks, I just had to rebuild my motor mount from landing a standard pusher prop, going to try a folding one.

Candela Research Center The micro version will be greatly appreciated. I notice that this regular stand is now on sale for $69 on your site! That is a very good deal. How long does the sale last? There is a link under the video to the catalog item I am referring to.

***** The stand is on sale for the month of February. We are also giving one away for free on our site for the 50th Subsciber, and KillerPlanes is getting ready to do a video contest and give another away.. Thanks again for all your support, TECH:Cline

Looking all day frustrated trying to understand what I am doing wrong on my folder and hub along with the "spinner" nut assembly. Come to find out after watching your video...the hole is too small so I can't get my "hub" on...can I drill it out? yea?

You can also test battery times under 3/4 power or full power. Nice to help set up your timer.
@DaveMerc10 жыл бұрын
Ok thanks! Would it be easier to just calculate that from the current draw and not stress the poor battery?
@Candelaresearchcenter10 жыл бұрын
The battery has to hold up over many flights, it will show you a weak battery if you have one,,,

I would use the standard prop with a prop saver and set up motor brake on the ESC in a flat prop position
@DaveMerc10 жыл бұрын
Luis Fernando Suárez Harašić Great idea! How do you setup the motor to break at in a particular position? These motors don't have a position sensor so how do you know when it is flat?
@suarezluis8110 жыл бұрын
You do it on the ESC check the manual I use turnigy ESC s and you just place the prop in the position you want it and set up the brake, the ESC will remember it and try to get there, it works almost all the time ALMOST
@suarezluis8110 жыл бұрын
Can't find any of my manuals but I think that is how it works haven't done it but once, anyways the air flow at the flat position is gonna be the lowest out of all times so the ESC brake most likely will pick there I guess got to do some research on the ESCs I'll try to get back to you

A simple test would it be just fine, don't need all that time just for a test like this. Not trying to offend you or anyone it's just my opinion..

Great video always wanted to give the folding prop a try. Now I understand how they work ill give one a try THANKS!!!
@DaveMerc8 жыл бұрын
They work great but have a little more vibration than standard props and not quite as much thrust in my opinion.

Please compare a APC 10x7 or Graupner with the folding Props. Thank you
@DaveMerc10 жыл бұрын
stereodreieck I wanted to do that but didn't have one to try in my collection. From what we saw with the MAS 10x6 prop I would suspect that APC 10x7 will do better than the folding prop too. I think the APC 10x7 will do just fine.

Is there any major advantage the folding props have over the fixed ones?
@DaveMerc8 жыл бұрын
Less drag when the motor is stopped and less likely to get damaged doing belly landings. Downside is they tend to have more vibration and not as much thrust.
@kermets7 жыл бұрын
Hi, couple of things, sounds like the motor has a dirty bearing also the cruise testing I wonder if the results would change much if the motor was to settle for 10 seconds or so ? look at the sunnysky 2216 880 with 9060 prop they tested 400 grams thrust with 3 amps if that is correct(change motor types under tech specs) www.rcsunnysky.com/content/37.html

Can i setup this up but without the spinner and the bottom plate? I mean, only the yoke and folding props? does the yoke can crimp tightly the motor shaft? Because I've seen some pusher configuration but without the spinner.
@DaveMerc9 жыл бұрын
***** You will need the spinner unless the motor shaft is threaded and has a nut. You may also need a spacer.

Do you guys use digital servos on your fpv aircraft? I haven't decided which one to buy for the FX61. A metal gear analog or the digital metal gear or karbonite gear from hitec? I'm concerned using a $5 metal gear servo on a $500ish fully loaded fpv wing.
@DaveMerc10 жыл бұрын
For the pan servo the best thing I have seen is the GWS 360 degree sail winch servo. It's large and the cost is high but it really works slick.

Dave, you and John are amazing people. I like the video and I like John's breadboard project. You guys need to do a video on the controller board. It's cool! And, I'd take bets on where you're headed with this as we have many of the same youtube subs. I foresee a build series following and improving on Uncle Deke's incredible FX61 build/design... lol,. Too many bleary hours watching late night vids... Different subject, a quick question please. Do you have any recommendations on a largish (19in.) 12V FPV monitor and DVR? Are you still using your Walmart TV and Radio Shack(?) DVR or have you seen or heard of anything newer and better? I'm not a goggle guy and I want something larger than the basic 7" RMRC type screen.. Thanks mucho!
@DaveMerc10 жыл бұрын
I have not researched this much because I found myself using goggles almost exclusively. Now I have bought a set of Dominator V2's with the DVR built into the goggles. If I was to get another monitor I would get one that has high brightness, no blue screen problems. I still use the Wally tube cause it works good enough, is very inexpensive. For a DVR I would probably go Foxtech. In my opinion all DVR's will cause some loss of video quality on the output to the monitor. Best to bypass the DVR when flying.

looks like a good power setup but really, $65 for a motor? e-flite is a little overpriced for what you get, i would say just get a cobra or a tunigy sk3 aerodrive they have worked well for me, but hey if it works for you so be it :)
@DaveMerc10 жыл бұрын
Actually I have never used the E-flite Power 15 except to do the testing. I agree with what you say on the price but I wanted to use the same motor as Eduardo to make the test valid for him. That's just my 2 cents :-)

In your opinion what feature set makes a good fpv platform? What model is your favorite for fpv?

Glenn Doney In my opinion the SkyWalker is the easiest to use. The SkyHunter is great too. Both are easy to build, launch, land and smooth flying with no jello in the video.
