Pete thank you, this was an absolute lifesaver. I'm a spray gun newb, I have an R500 and took it apart to de-grease it. One of the springs pinged out and I was unsure how it all went back together. After trying a few failed combinations, and after looking at the incorrect diagram that came with it (I didn't know it was incorrect) I thought I had lost some vital bits. There are a dozen companies selling this spray gun. With the air volume knob moved to the bottom of the handle, left handed painters can't bump the side mounted knob types. Made of Stainless Steel now due to "Water-Borne" paints, Amazon currently has a bright polished version with 4 tip sizes and actual air regulator for $88.95 now on 6/27/2024. It comes with the exact same features and carefully select the 4 needle version, fluid nozzle and air cap. Made in China of course. ASE Master, retired. P.S. I like your Yamaha ball cap.

Hi Pete, thanks for this vid! I cleaned my r500 as you suggested (it was indeed full of grease) and unfortunately broke an o-ring upon reassembly, they are quite fragile it seems! Side note for noobs like be: after reassembly, it was impossible to trigger only the air output without moving the needle and release paint. You need to screw everything a bit tight (but not too tight to avoid breaking the o-rings!) and it will have the tolerance required to work great 🙂 the video helped me a lot to check if I wasn't putting everything back wrong 😄 thanks again Pete!

Hi buddy, I guess you are paying for original R&D that the manufacturer carries out, plus you have a dealer network that needs a good margin to survive, then there manufacturers profit, for the end user, as you say, it's get harder to justify the big difference in pricing
@joyjosephiyana6220 Жыл бұрын
Talking about performance it is almost close the difference is the quality build just be gentle on the treads...
@bosshawg7427 Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't go that far as a lot of R&D is in the nozzle & air caps, which the cheaper guns don't exactly match up to. When you break it down to air & fluid consumption, fan pattern, and pressure needed for optimal atomization, that's where the costlier tech comes in and can make or break the value of a gun. Consider the LPH400 as an example.. the split nozzle and cap combo allows the gun to have a finesse not many guns will compare to, all while being highly efficient on air & paint usage without creating plumes of overspray. Some advantages you just have to pay more to get

If you ran some brake cleaner through the gun, would that not help get rid of excess grease?
@peteshobbies53832 ай бұрын
Hi mate, It would certainly loosen it up. the biggest problem trying it that way would be the effect on the internal seals, often, on cheaper Chinese guns they aren't that resistant to solvents, so swimming in brake or carburetor cleaner and the like wouldn't do it any good, plus bits of grease could fly through at any time, very counterproductive time wise if you have spent ages preparing your work, it's quicker to just take it apart , cheers buddy 👍

Pete i have both guns with their various sized caps (in fact i have 4 x A610's with all their different cap sizes) I recently sprayed my sons high roof Ford Transit Van (white) using the A610 in 1.3 for base & clear (had to spray outside on my driveway as the Van height is too tall to get in the garage - nice calm sunny day) sprayed base at 25psi and clear at 30psi using two different A610 guns and i use PPS series cups. (my compressor has 300litres of tank storage & heat exchanger & 3 stage filtration system so plenty of CFM) Had some paint flutter on one of the base guns? and suspect the cap was not on tight enough (any feedback on gun flutter experience would be appreciated) I am pretty sure A610 is a sub company of Rongpeng (Rongpeng hi-tech manufacturing complex is huge!! 25acres or 100,000m2 with 1,200 aprox employees and they have been around for 25yrs perfecting their gun manufacture. So they are no cheap arse dodgy backyard manufacturing facility) I believe the Eastwood guns are made by them and also other retail brands rebadged with their own logo & colours. I think i will also order some more R500 1.3 caps/needle sets and work out which caps i prefer to use on the A610 guns
@peteshobbies5383 Жыл бұрын
Hi mate, I didn't realise these were made by Rongpeng. Fluttering at the tip can be a few different things, too high a pressure for the viscosity of the material, not in your case, though. The other main reason is that the tip isn't sealing where it meets the gun body, so if it's not tight enough, or there's debris where it seats, it's on a taper so the sealing area needs to be good, some guns can corroded on the taper surface which means they won't seal, you will normally get some bubbles in the pot as well

I ordered the Rongpeng R830 it’s same as the A610 just different color and name I ordered the R830 directly from the manufacturer ALOT cheaper lol. I also have the Auarita MP-500 LVLP and I absolutely love that gun little bit more cfm I think but so smooth. Soon as the R830 gets here I’ll take it all apart clean really good and test I’ve been waiting awhile to order this paint gun to check out the difference between the manufacturer to the rebrand paint guns I bet they are exactly the same internals but never know the guts could have been taken out swapped and then repackaged then sold here in the US just a wild thought 🤣

Thanks for your videos Pete. I am in need of assistance. I have surface rust on my fenders beginning and want to fix them. The story is the norm..not a big budget and i'm a fix it in the driveway or garage guy, already have a compressor. What paint gun would be recommended for low overspray, low material consumption, and can spray primer, base, clear? The guns i have in my sights are the LPH-80, R500, A610, Vevor, or DV1 copy (NVE)? Please help.
@peteshobbies5383 Жыл бұрын
Hi David, of the guns you mentioned, the LPH80 is in it own class, really. It's much smaller than the rest, much more expensive, and a different build level. Of the others, the R500 would fit the bill being competent and cheap, the NVE, imo sprays better but costs more and uses more air, another gun to think about, if it not too expensive is the ANI F160. The advantage of the R500 is that you can get them with tip sets for very little money, so a primer setup and a base/clear setup that makes sense
@davidwilsonjr6889 Жыл бұрын
@peteshobbies5383 That is a great help. I appreciate it. I do understand the LPH-80 is in a "hobby" class or touch-ups. Wasn't sure if that quality is better and if it could be used to paint cars (not whole cars; but maybe panels at a time). I will look into the other gun you mentioned. Hi Paulo, If you can afford it, the Sagola is the better gun. There's not a lot of difference in the finish to be fair, but the Sagola is better made and much more rewarding to use. It depends where you are as to how much you pay for the Sagola as the price variations are huge

Do you mean the adjuster for the fan? If so, I haven't on this, but I have on other guns. You unscrew the fan adjuster at the top, there's not much in there, it's just what they call a spreader valve so unless something has got in there, there's nothing to do

Hi buddy, well spotted 😉, In my defence, I will add that I do own both at the moment, so hopefully, I'll get away with it 😁. For Base Coat I prefer the wider less wet pattern of the 500, but clear coat, once you get used to it, I prefer the 610, I say after you are used to it as the 610 is faster compared to the 500 so you need to cut the fluid back or speed up. So I would say the 500 is more user-friendly, 👍
