I put 255/85R16 KM3s on my 17 Taco. Great tire, great handling and smooth! Great choice. Hey, I noticed that you have your center rear seat head rest removed, and probably for better view out the window. I did that as well. Pro tip: Go to the junk yard and pull a head rest off another Japanesse car that has the same diameter headrest bars as the Taco. Completely remove all of the headrest material leaving you with just the tubing bars that go into the seat back. I had to pinch the set slightly I got in the vice slightly to match the width of the Taco seat headrest. After that, I cut off all but about 3" of the length of the ends that go into the seat. With this headrest bar installed, I am able to hang my big first aid kit from it, as nobody sits in that part of the seat leaving the first aid kit easily within reach from any seat in the truck.

I've had a few days to view and review the wheel/tire combo. At first I was leery of the wheel and rim protector and how it would look. I'm generally not a fan of purely cosmetic items that look as if they are functional - in this case the rim protectors sort of mimic what bead locks would look like, but don't have that purpose. Plus, the nuts aren't flush so I can see those getting damaged quickly and potentially causing problems. However, the combination looks way better than I was expecting and it does provide a distinctive look for your rig. The wheel/tire size combo provides a good-looking stance as well, and I'm interested to get an update after 6 months on the tires as a daily driver. But, I do have to tell you I'm not a fan of the front bumper. Something about the 3 piece design doesn't seem quite right. It makes the front end look very heavy and somewhat disproportional. In particular the left/right components under the headlights I think should follow the original contour lines of the stock bumper. This one seems to stick out more and for some reason my first impression to describe it is "snaggletooth". Anyways, you're build out is exciting to watch and I'm looking forward to more. Enjoy!
@ArkansasOffroad4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for all of the feedback, I really appreciate it. And yes, I will definitely do a follow up review of the tires in the future. As far as the bumper, I totally agree with you. We've already started slimming it down significantly along with several other changes. It's gonna look completely different on this next version!

I would like to get a tacoma at some point to kinda be the middle ground between my huge F150 and the Jeep. Btw have you regeared? It sucks to hear the tacomas pretty much need a regear from stock. I'll more than likely go with a manual tacoma and maybe it wont affect it quite as much if I go to 33s since I'm pretty sure I saw that the stock ratio is like 4:30 or something close for the manuals

Good stuff! Ozark offroading is definitely different than what I'm used to. Thinking about going up to 285/75/17's. How much does the weight and size impact driving? Sluggish? Also, Noticed that Trek hanging on the wall, Fuel Ex? Looking fresh with the tanwall tires.

Thank you! Appreciate it haha, that's my Trek Slash 8! Gotta have the tanwalls 😎 Yeah that size is so perfect. Super meaty and good for daily driving. @ArkansasOffroad4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I'm already re-geared to 4.88's, so I don't really feel the weight of the tires all that much. I think this tire has more ply than the old and the rim weight is definitely heavier. These rims are somewhere around 35-40lbs each.
