AEV Snorkel Installation - Jeep Wrangler JK

Thanks for tuning back in! --- We decided a snorkel setup was going to be imperative for our cross country trip across the US so we decided to purchase an AEV Snorkel Kit for the Jeep Wrangler. The kit comes with every thing you need to bolt it up and ride off into the sun set.
I have included the tools necessary for the installation of the AEV Snorkel Kit for the JK / JKU Jeep Wrangler. This was not meant to be a 'How To' video. This was just to show you guys the way I approached the instal of the AEV Snorkel Kit.
This ended up being a fun and simple project we both tackled together and the results of the kit fitment was very impressive.

I feel you. It is honestly not that bad. The template is pretty dead on accurate and as long as you line it up without overthinking it the holes will be near perfect.

Was there nothing to add to the cut part the hood? Kinda didn't like how that was done personally. Think for 400 bucks they would supply something to make it to where the hood wouldnt cut up your new intake. What about the holes in the bottom of the stock air box or did you silicone that?

Yes he forgot to put the bezel around the cut part of the hood🤣. Maybe he’ll figured it out

You have to make sure the drill is set to drill mode lol it would have went through you gotta know how to use it

i like the avoidance of having a hose joint for opening the hood, but this puts the snorkel outside of your limb cable attachment point, and just isn't a feasible option for me.

your drill should have a "drill" setting, that symbol of a drill bit on the collar should rotate and it will allow you to drill things without it making the "ratcheting" sound. also check out actual cut off wheels for your grinder instead of the grinding wheels.....make a ton of difference!

Ah! Thanks for the tip. However I was not finding anything that would help the low power clicking sound. I think it was just a defective drill from them.

So you took the bolts out of the side of the pillar for the gobi rack and then mounted the snorkel. Did anything replace the bolts that you took out.

Yes, the snorkel kit came with extended bolts to replace if I remember correctly.

Didn't install the snorkel cowl trim? Also, do you think a more intricate tool such as a Dremel would work to do these cuts after the hole saw drilling?

I installed the trim the week after. Just used a pop rivet gun and small drill bit for the pilot holes. Yes a dremel would work better no doubt. I dont own one.

Does the snorkel change the sound or improve performance similar to a cold air intake ?

I got rid of my airaid intake and went back to the factory airbox and aev snorkel with a dryflow filter. I found that my throttle response improved but otherwise mpg stayed the same. My biggest issue with the stock/airaid airbox was snow ingestion. Snow days I would see my air filters get caked with snow. Snorkel improved this dramatically
