I stopped watching pro wrestling in 2011 when WWE killed it for me, idk if it was the writers messing it up, but then as an adult I gave AEW a try when it started, but it started being another TNA feeding of ex WWE guys, not hard to do getting ex WWE guys when wwe was all they had for the big leagues, but then they started making fun of WWE or were serious with their WWE name drops, kind of like TNA did, I stopped watching before it got even worse, I heard now it’s insane how much they bring up WWE. The call backs to the wrestler’s individual encounters isn’t bad though. Lol

I am curious if it will be brought up again in the future but I hope it gets a nomination for running gag at the next Golden Noggers because it has been heavily featured during the two AEW episodes. Also, I had a good chuckle when Test was there during the part when OOC talked about how there were 5 or 6 people ahead of Joe in the pecking order for the AEW World title. Great episode. I feel like Memento, Inception, The Dark Knight, and The Prestige are more well rounded, better executed films in his filmography. Even Dunkirk is a better executed story. No means is it at the bullshittery of Tenet. It's a fantastic film. Just not the level that Nolan & company are capable of creating.

I agree, there are way too many Championships, and I hate the ROH titles being defended on AEW TV. MJF holding an ROH title despite never stepping foot in an ROH ring is absurd. When Tony Khan first bought ROH, my idea was to make it feel like a completely separate entity, like NXT was to WWE in 2015-2019. Have guys who are exclusive to Ring of Honor, which in turn will make people want to go out of their way to watch ROH. The Briscoes being exclusive to ROH is really what sold those PPVs in 2022 in my opinion. Instead, TK turned the ROH show into AEW Dark 2.0 and cheapened the belts to the point where they feel like secondary titles. The one point I disagree with you guys on is the Omega-Takeshita build. They had been feuding for three months at that point, wrestled in a couple of multi-man matches, and Callis/Takeshita cost Omega several important matches over the summer. The language barrier probably prevented them from doing more, and Omega has always struggled with conveying anger in his promos, but I thought it was a pretty solid build all things considered.
@invincibleloonie
@invincibleloonie 10 ай бұрын
Personally the Callis stuff is annoying because while he is a heat magnet and great at that, his actual stable is not. Talented wrestlers no doubt but all the matches have this annoying sense that he’s in the way of making them major stars. Get out of my Forbidden Door Main Event (1/2), and let Ospreay and Omega speak for themselves. Kenny’s losing but Takeshita’s not ascending

There was never a chance Punk was going anywhere but WWE after this. This is a fuck you from Punk to AEW, and WWE is now part of this TKO company. They're going to want as much star power as they can get heading into WrestleMania season in their first year to help keep this momentum going. Vince has been greatly diminished, and he was the one who Punk seemed to have the main issue with. Triple H is "one of the boys" and has proven himself as head of creative, so I'm sure Punk was a lot more malleable to making a deal with him and putting the past aside. This should all be a surprise to no one.

And I’m sure triple h is a lot more malleable in HIS position than Vince. After all, triple h has BEEN where punk was. Playing 2nd fiddle as the champ to the likes of stone cold the rock mick foley, The undertaker. I think they both had some maturing to do, and in the past 10 years they’ve both realized that it wasn’t personal it was just business.

2:06:08 The Bucks doing a victory lap in half empty arena is the best possible metaphor come to life. The idea that "ah the Bucks totally would have worked with Punk if he could be incident free for 7 months!" is total bullshit to me. The Bucks were never going to put their feelings aside and do the best angle possible.
@Wannabe_Baby

Bit of a moot point, when Punk only made it two months anyway. I'd expect this kind of comment if Punk actually DID make it the 6 months and the Bucks didn't work with him. But it's hilarious to see people still getting mad at the Bucks when Punk failed to even make it to the halfway point. You don't know the Bucks wouldn't put their feelings aside. You DO know that Punk was such a dimwit that he started two fights on AEW's biggest shows.

I know this has nothing to do with the episode, but anyone ever hear the Mr.Perfect interview on Kfan (Minnesota sports radio) Probably my favorite interview, he is in character the whole time and makes the interviewer pretty angry. Just heals out on him during the interview. Best wrestler ever!

@@OSW I can not, I’m old and not very computer savvy. I do know it was on Kfan’s Powertrip Morning Show, in March of 2002. The show also had Brock Lesnar on all the time. Brock tells a story about a road rage incident, the short of it, he got out and scared the other. It’s a very good story.

@@OSW also I just needed to mildly correct myself. Perfect was on Powertrip and a personality on a different show, same station named Dan called in. Then Perfect went into heel, made Dan hang up on the show. Afterwards, Perfect says something to the effect of “doesn’t he know is a bit?”. Amazing, I don’t think Dan called in for years after.

I think that you could reasonably get away with booking Joe as your world champion in AEW. Reason being that the AEW die hards would buy it, and if the fans buy your champion, his age and ability to work don't matter. And luckily, he can work, and he's not too old yet. Now I don't think he'd reign for years, but I think he could reasonably carry the title without it seeming odd.

@@simonturner1 Why would he be? It was a throwaway line in a promo (and the ONLY part of that feud that got any heat). Nobody even remembered that promo until Punk brought it up months later. Punk, on the other hand, actually tried to damage the reputation of Hangman by calling him out when it wasn't part of the show. Trying to kill the credibility of the top home-grown babyface because you can't let a tiny perceived slight go is the biggest bitch move ever.
