I think he has to take a break from AEW and try to make something fresh and not going back to the bland “Lionheart” gimmick. I know he still has some time left for one more AEW Title run once he retires and could possibly go to WWE and enter in the Hall of Fame. But I feel his prime years as one of the most decorated wrestlers of all time have all but long gone. I don’t want to say “Please, Retire” because it would make an ignorant AEW fan used to say. But he needs to call it a career. Probably Jericho announces his final opponent and retire from the ring if he loses. I love Y2J and he will always be one of the greatest superstars during his run on three promotions (WCW, WWE, AEW).

Good video. ... Tony Khan is partly to blame. He basically acted like there was nothing to the Kylie Rae situation. He should have at least taken Jericho off of TV for a few weeks. Jericho was loudly booed at the PPV shortly after the news broke, and it negatively impacted the multi-man tag team match. ... Jericho has too much of an ego. I don't expect him to retire yet, but he should at least take a few months off to get in better shape. ... The situation was really not addressed, and it was easy to predict that the fans were going to get more and more tired of him.

This is the exact same problem TNA fans had with Kurt Angle when he signed with the company: overexposure. Like Jericho signing with AEW, Kurt Angle signing with TNA was a big deal due to the sheer star power Angle brought with him, not to mention Angle's reputation as a wrestling technician. However, once the initial "wow" factor wore off, it became obvious that TNA was trying to shoehorn him everywhere for exposure purposes. They are not wrong from a PR standpoint, but TNA's booking was what caused a shift from promoting their homegrown talent to big name free agents, and Angle was by far their hottest name after Christian Cage. Plus, Angle was still in his late 30s when he signed with TNA, whereas Jericho is 49 when he made his first AEW appearance. At least Angle can still put on a show physically back then, whereas Jericho had to rely more on his character work now, since age has already caught up with his body.

Chris Jericho was an asset when he debut with AEW, and he was doing well up until the JAS. There were hints of Jericho being over exposed around the end of the JAS, as that faction simply stayed together too long, and it felt like no one was truly benefiting from it. AEW leaning into the "Jericho Vortex" and trying to get "The Learning Tree" over is simply not working, and Chris Jericho is tarnishing his legacy. He simply needs to go away, and give the fans a break because we are burnt out.

In terms of his match quality, Cody Rhodes said that he himself felt he struggled to keep at peak performance due to the more relaxed schedule. I'm not defending Jericho by any means. I'm just saying if a younger guy was struggling to keep up the pace how is Jericho supposed to? He defo needs to take some time away or possibly retire, or as was stated in the video, both. He seems like the kind of guy who would want to do a retirement run properly. Get into as good a shape as he can and do the best he can in terms of quality and have the fans appreciate him instead of just wanting him to disappear.

Matt Hardy does this too! Putting him with Private Party destroyed them! Anyone who watched AEW from the beginning knows how over they were. Then, when they were put with Matt, people didn't know how to respond until they stopped responding at all. We can say it started with Kylie Rae, but that's more just where the dam burst open. People were starting to get tired of Jericho well before. The JAS (which always sucked and helped no one) lasted waaaaaay too long. He had a worst feud of the year candidate with Cole that killed all Cole's momentum. Kenny vs Callis was white hot....then Jericho decided he needed to be part of it and it instantly died off. Then we got to the Kylie issue and people finally said enough

That would have Jericho's career go full circle, his first match in WWE was against The Rock where The Rock won so imagine them wrestling again and Jericho wins his retirement match against him. The two could have another promo battle before the match where The Rock is like "Who are you?" and Jericho throws a tantrum and the two go at it. Would be a perfect ending to his career. Hard disagree. The learning tree gimmick is cooking and almost everyone that works with Jericho leave in better positions than when they were before. He just almost killed himself at the PPV so that Hook would look impressive even though hes still fairly green.

When Jericho was being kept under by HHH, Goldberg and Hogan, he come up with some of his best stuff, on the mic and in the ring. Back then he was hungry to prove he was as good, if not better than the office and the guys who kept burying him. One of the reasons I loved watching Jericho back in his WWF/WWE prime was the fact that he was constantly working on improving himself with regards to his mic work, ring work and general character/gimmick; it was great watching him upstage HHH who like Goldberg, Hogan etc, has grown lazy and didn't put in the effort they should have done due to backstage politicking and the stroke he had with the office. So many times you'd watch Jericho and HHH go at it and you knew that Jericho put in that extra effort as if to say "well, fuck you HHH, if you're going to go over in all our matches and try to bury me, then I'll put on a show", and that was one of the reasons why HHH was a cunt to Jericho, as HHH was intimidated and felt threatened because Jericho WAS better in the ring in almost every aspect. Sadly, he's now in a position where Tony Khan, out of gratitude for Jericho's work in AEW's early days, lets him do whatever the fuck he wants and it's hurting Jericho and AEW. Someone is needed to pull Jericho aside, read him the riot act and basically tell him that he's become the very same kind of wrestler who attempted to bury and derail his career when he was younger i.e. a fat and lazy Hogan and a HHH that relied on politicking, not talent, and needs to take time to get his head and body in better condition. Granted, he's in his 50s, there was ALWAYS going to be a decline in his physical ring work as that is just how ageing works, but he needs to get help i.e. time off to sort himself out and get his priorities straight if he still wants to be a physically performing wrestler and before he ends up completely tarnshing his reputation and legacy.

On the otherhand, ive heard enough people talk that while everyone respected the cruiserweights performance, they just werent drawing.

but the thing is this "The Learning Tree" bit is a Near Opening card angle it's not THAT relevant. The FTW belt isn't even a "Sanctioned" title in AEW. Jericho is just trolling the fans right and you IWC commentators are eating it up, cause you're talking about IT and HIM.

well... I mean I get it, AND I actually DO agree; at this point in his career it seems like the only person who needs a faction in order to function more than Jericho is Luke Gallowss. Jericho has always been the "reinvent" himseslf guy, but in AEW "Le Champion", "The Painmaker", "The Wizard", and "The Learning Tree" have all just been synonyms for "I'm leading a different group of guys and have a different jacket". However the ticket sales and viewership aren't reflecting the notion that Jericho has Xpac Heat. It's completely anecdotal. People are still watching when he's on screen (or rather, the people who are watching continue watching rather than changing the channel). The only thing AEW could actually do to test this is just leave him off TV for several months without changing anything else and see if ratings improve. Unless something drastic happens he ain't going away.

Jericho is in his 2017-2019 WWE era form. Squash the upcoming talent and start storylines and don’t finish them. Wrestling past his prime like the Undertaker. This Jericho would’ve been perfect in Vince’s 2017-2019 WWE.

While I do think Jericho going away then coming back might be the best thing for him to do right now I don't think that'll change much once he comes back. The biggest issue with Jericho is that he has too much creative freedom which serves no one but him. Let's face it, LAX were a dominant tag team in TNA prior of leaving then they ended up as his lackys, Sammy Guevara has the same issue even though he can establish himself as a own heel, Jack Swagger has the looks but does need more improvement. Don't even let me get started on the whole JAS which litterally helped no one who was involved in it. My point here is that Tony needs to grow some balls and tell Chris "NO" when he comes up with a stupid idea. One of the reason Chris managed to do well in WWE is because he knew how to work under Vince's restraints and still managed to get over. His 2008 heel character was amazing and he singlehandendly carried Raw through 2016 with his "list" gimmick which ended in a great fued with Kevin Owens. I know I'm expecting much but I do want Chris to end his career well because I grow up on the guy and it sucks seeing him swallowed within his own ego.

Four months later and he still has the same problem. He needs to go away for awhile and then come back for an announced retirement run (like Cena is going to do). Jericho is an all time great. Give the fans a chance to miss him and then applaud him on his way out. When I say "out' I don't mean he has to leave the business completely either. I think he could take up as a position as as a producer backstage because he's got an insane amount of knowledge for the young guys to draw from.

He definitely will. I was at Dynasty and watching his facial and body reactions to the crowd, you can tell he’s pleased with himself getting reaction from the crowd no matter if it’s good, kayfabe bad, or actually bad. You’re reacting to him and that’s all he cares about. Though he does need a genuine reinvention at this point or go into legend mode, cut back on the physicality and just be the manager of his new faction.
