In 1969, Ajax play a never to forget quarter-final in the Europa Cup I. Rinus Michels' team meet Benfica, the record champions of Portugal, which has an absolute world star in Eusébio. Ajax, with a very young Johan Cruijff, take an important step towards the European top in this triptych with Benfica.

i was eight years old growing up and playing football 40km north of Amsterdam. these games were always on wednesday evenin g. in our pyamas we watched on black and white tv. still brings tears to my eyes as even now i remeber. Gracias Johan. Dank U Johan.

This is funny because, as a Benfica fan born in the 90s, I've heard about this semi-final thousands of times in my life. This must be the most famous defeat in our history, but one that is remembered with pride: we were definitely passing the baton to the next great team in Europe. A tribute to the great Ajax, and to these guys that made one of the best teams the world has ever seen (and thanks to Ajax media team for the doc with our legends Toni and Simões)! I hope that football can one day become a people's game again!

Ik " herinner" me dat ik de uit wedstrijd ook gezien heb . Misschien in samenvatting dat weet ik niet precies meer .Ik was 13 en nog een brave Hendrik, die nooit kattekwaad uit haslde.Dat zou nog veranderen ,dankzijn mijn terugkeer in Amsterdam .😅
