It's great to have you back and I love the 'agony aunt' style of video. Diving in and doing it without fear, experimenting as you go, sets us a great example and shows how to learn to use the tool. Thank you.

Thanks. My videos are not high productions. I prefer to show my thinking process that doesn't always go well lol. Hopefully you and others can learn from my mistakes as well as my successes.

I was in a rush to get this video out and now realized I should have used the overlay blend mode on the lapels like I did with the suit body. Also should have blended the tie and shirt. Ugh. So sorry.

Thank you for that awesome tutorial! I did similar stuff to socks photos a couple of weeks ago, but with unsharp filter applied for more details. Still really enjoyed the video and the positivity! Definetely one of the best affinity channels on KZbin

Shouldn't a Displace filter be used in editing situations such as this (under the Distortion filters)? The pattern in the arms of the suit appear to simply be a flat continuation of the body pattern in the video. A Displace filter would take advantage of the highlights and shadows in the original suit image and give the effect of bending the material to fit the shadows and highlights. Also, in some cases, spot application of patterns in certain areas (e.g., the pocket flaps) would, IMHO, enhance the images realism.

Yes some spots like pockets should be done separately. Most who have seen my videos in the past have heard me say that if I was doing this for a client, I would spend hours or sometimes days. I try to keep these videos short to show techniques you can use to get where you want to end up. I was going to use displacement filter, and am not sure why I decided not to use it. It could be that the patterns were too small and Affinity's filter isn't great with small patterns, but you can try it.
