Haha I'm only a professional photographer for over 30 years but I love my K-1 and recently I even invested in 645z because of Covid-19 I didn't do any jobs with it so far but I pretty much have all primes for it since my Pentax 645N days both cameras feel incredible in my hands and I love that they concentrate on photography they are such great photographic tools and easy to operate even with gloves on. But I also have Canon because I do need the faster AF to stay competitive because I do a lot of action/people photography but my heart belongs to Pentax!

@@henrygentles1894 If you absolutely must have auto-focus, maybe. The FA 50mm 1.4 she mentioned is a superb lens and not all that expensive. I have an old 100-300 FA 4.7-5.6 that takes fantastic shots for a sub $100 autofocus lens that you can pick up any day on eBay. Sample here: flic.kr/s/aHskSH1CGJ There are lots of choices out there if you're willing to shoot manual focus like an old fart like me. The A series has some real manual focus jewels in the lineup for not much money and they're auto-aperture. I recently went back to my old M Series manual focus SMC lenses just because I kinda missed the stop-down metering routine with my K200. Gonna give them a try with the K30.

I am an analogue shooter for the most part. Apart from my trusty 12 year old K-5, I almost exclusively use a bunch of old 35mm SLRs, namely K1000, KM, KX, K2, LX, MX and 2 MEs (1 with a winder). Over the years I have collected quite some original Pentax glass, too. 17 lenses between 20 and 300mm, mainly primes. I've always had a soft spot for Pentax, which hasn't changed to this very day, I can't even say why exactly that is. Perhaps their sturdiness and reliability, the sheer quality of bodies, lenses and therefore image quality. Might be all of that combined, at some point I have stopped asking myself questions like these. In 40 years of shooting, the idea of changing to something else has never occured to me but once. In that case I had an eye on the fantastic Contax S2 and the excellent Zeiss lenses. But I couldn't do it. The vision of having to sell all my trustworthy Pentax stuff in oder to finance some desirable new gear, felt almost painful to me. After months of pondering I decided to stay Pentaxian for life. That was many years ago and tbh, I never regretted it. My parents started the fire, when they gave me a K1000 with a 1:2 50mm as a present for my 12th birthday. That was in 1985. And the story went on, when I received my father's LX and KX, when he passed away 2 years ago. He was a life-long Pentaxian, too, coming from Spotmaric F, then later switching to exactly these very KX and LX I own now. Should I ever be in need of a new DSLR, it will most definitely be a K-1, even though its bulky and heavy. Or maybe a K-3. But it will be a Pentax. Let's hope they'll survive for as long as possible...

It is heartening to see a Pentax camera being given such a warm presentation, thank you. I use the K-70 myself and I am extremely pleased. I hope Pentax/Ricoh will soon give us an indication of what future they see for their camera and lens lineup. I am sorry to say that if they dont jump on the mirrorless bandwagon I fear their future will be bleak. That would be a shame as I would rather upgrade to Pentax FF than any other FF brand, when that time comes.

Hey Mattias! You should make a video with advices to make a living on photography. I'm curious of your way of working and selling your art and as many, open to learn. Hugs.

Way you take pics of your dog, can't imagine how many pics you will be taking one day when you become a dad. 😄

I really feel bad for Pentax not able to do well. K1 is built like a tank, IBIS, astro tracer, good IQ, good MF assists... Etc The 645Z is also the first medium format that is affordable for "average people" and it can shoot video as well.

Some top images as always. Dog must be developing some paranoia by now about why Dad keeps pointing big dead cyclops eyes at him.

She knows there is a treat in it for her so every time I bring out a camera she comes running.

Pardon me but what is missing in the K1 compared with the KP? I am in doubt between these two cameras, may be a third the K70. I have a k3 but it begins give signs of…thanks in advance.

Mattias: Your photos make any camera look good! I still have a Pentax Spotmatic, for old time's sake. It served me well. I'm just using my phone camera for now. Maybe another Pentax would work. I'll have to check the price. Like you, I tend to buy used. I didn't really understand what you meant about the Speed Booster. Maybe your KP review will explain it fully. Cheers!

I don't think I mentioned a speedbooster?

Hi Mattias, Do you still use your Pentax KI full frame?
