I was raised in Saint John and I don't even want to live here. Crap city with no money and no good management sold out to Irving and dying slow. It's cheap to be here for a reason

@@AcornScorn u will find out as long as you live in canada, it is about same. Ontario is rufugee camp. Many of illegal rufugee are there. It has been changed a lot. In Ontario, we make 200k house hold, but it is still hard to have comfortable life.

Congrats on the house! I was born in Saint John myself, currently living in Calgary. Would love to move back home one day, once i am able to do so. As you pointed out in the beginning, it's also expensive here in Calgary. When i retire, hopefully it will be back home and with a house paid off.

We just bought a house in miramachi NB. We bought it just online to renovate it. We won't be moving there ,this is our third house for investment. We have a house in Toronto and we don't pay rent or mortgage so we are staying put. We will be back in NB sometime in February 2021. Good luck guys

@@atribecalledowens Oh my, my goal- once the world opens up again- is to live and work at my dear friend Vijay's new resort-hostel-camp area within the Indian region of the low Himalayas-where the temps are moderate, he says kind of like Atlantic Canada. I'll be helping to run it(I have hotel management and hospitality diplomas from.long ago). The big thing is to be with my best friend. The only person who loves Jim.Morrison and his poetry and band as much as myself lol. Another thing is my Spiritual path needs to end up where I may.learn more and meet more people. I love Saint John, but being an old city by Canadian standards(Actually, the oldest incorporated city in Canada)and a mainly Protestant-Catholic background, there is not a Buddhist Temple or Himdu, two important philosophies/religions to me, third being Christianity but not the religion. I had the savings, until our lockdown last March, where it dwindled. But, I have a goal and I hope to walk where The Buddha had in Nepql and especially I want to visit the Spiritual mecca to me, Varanasi along the Ganges. Can you tell me where you went in India? Either way, take care. Hope your stay has been well and you made a very good decision. I think NB is beautiful, peaceful, and feasible. Those who complain I ignore. How could anyone complain when we have no dangers natural or by war, famine, while there are kids living in these places that some people don't know exist outside of their bubble. I noticed someone mention this re: SJers. I think every city has it's detractors. Well, thanks and good weekend to you. We both loved India very much, the country has a special place in our hearts. I (Jess) started in Delhi, then to Rishikesh, then to Varanasi, then to Dharamsala/McCleod Ganj). Jordan started in Mumbai and we met up in Varanasi to explore the rest together :) I agree that more diversity in Saint John as far as a spiritual community would be nice, although I haven't had a chance to really dig in. So glad I came across your channel while goggling moving from Ontario to New Brunswick. We are in the process of looking and made a couple enquiries but I get the impression they don't want our business. We've contacted 2 real estate agents from a couple of listings we liked and they were all helpful at first and then when the moving from Ontario came up we haven't heard back from either one of them. Also my hubby when that N.B. is closing the borders for travelers. Not sure what to do. Any suggestions? Looking forward to many more videos!

What cities are you looking in? We would suggest narrowing down your search to the areas or types of homes you like...city vs rural kind of thing. Then google the top realtor in that/those areas and call them directly whether it's their listing or not. Also, it's ok to have 1 realtor in Moncton and another in Saint John for example....but not two different realtors in the same area. Ask them to add you to their email portal so you can see listings before they reach the general public.

Toronto'ite in Fredericton moving to Saint John next year to teach French Immersion. I used to work analytics in Toronto, but the pace of life and the cost of living just went haywire. I felt we were all working to tread water, even with high salaries. I'm on a financial independence path as well; I've saved enough to start a lower remunerating, more enjoyable career and perhaps buy a starter home. I'm debating buying a place in Saint John, but I have to figure out if my new job and location will work out. It seems like a no-brainer to buy instead of rent in most of NB, especially due to the rent : price ratio and the lack of rent control (which Toronto oddly has!) I do miss the hustle-and-bustle of Toronto, but COVID killed that. ] Any regions you recommend? I can't imagine traffic being as bad as in T.O. I hope I can get quality on parity with Toronto down there! I can't believe it's possible to own a freehold home in an urban center in this country!

You nailed it. And yes, there isn't much traffic here especially compared to Toronto. Covid may be decreasing traffic even more than normal for Saint John. But even on the worst day it's not bad at all!

Hey! Yes, property tax is affordable here. Most times it is listed on the listing on realtor.ca BUT there is a little caveat...if you are not the primary resident in the home a.k.a if you are renting it out, then property tax is doubled in NB!
